Scientists talk about the effects of global warming and everything and say it is getting worse, but how fast? Do you think it is happening fast enough so that when I am older, I should not have a child, as that child could be affected badly by global warming during their life time?

Or will it take alot longer than that?

Thank you very much.

The standard label for those who accept the anthropogenic global warming (AGW) theory has become 'Alarmists'.

Reading a review of a new book (Six Degrees: Our Future on a Hotter Planet) on RealClimate, the issue was raised as to whether 'Alarming' is a more appropriate label than 'Alarmist'.

http://www.realclimate.org/index.php/archives/2007/11/six-degrees/

Is someone who makes alarming predictions automatically an alarmist? For example, is a doctor who tells you that smoking is increasing your chances of contracting lung cancer by a certain percentage an alarmist?

It seems to me that 'Alarmist' is an appropriate label for someone who is intentionally inflating the dangers of a risk like global climate change. This would not be applicable to anthropogenic global warming. Whether or not you believe the science, the evidence does indicate that global warming poses potentially alarming dangers.

What do you think about the labels 'Alarmism' vs. 'Alarming' in this context?

As within a microwave oven, microwave radiation causes molicules to vibrate and heat up. Gobal warming has seamingly increased in the last 30 years, around the same time we have been sending more satilates into space for mobile communications, radio dishes and mobile phone masts, and Wi fi. Pigeons flying in the path of radio dishes can be instantly cooked, so with all these's signals and radio waves, there must have an effect, in heating up the atmosphere.

Or, should I say 160-180 proof ethanol that comes from a still.
Efectivly replacing the gasoline of E85 with water. I can make anhydrous ethanol, but would rather eliminate the dehydrating step.

hey there,

i remember watching history channel a month or so ago about environmental tech...they got to electric cars and showed some homemade ones...one guy had 20+ batterys (dunno if they were 'car' batteries, but they were same sized.) and hooked them to an electric motor and it worked great...he had a homemade charger that charged his car in 5-8 hours....his car could zip too...I just want to know more about it and im sure with that idea you can make a hybrid with less batteries to acheive 40+mpg....

iv googled for info but all i get is really crummy sites
anyone know of any good ones for LOTS of info?

Several times now we've seen global warming deniers link articles from the UK Telegraph which have contained misinformation and lies regarding global warming. The most recent one claimed that the planet has cooled to 1983 levels, when in reality we're currently ~0.4°C warmer than 1983.

So what is the deal with the UK Telegraph? Is it like Britain's equivalent of The Washington Times, New York Post, FOX News, and Rush Limbaugh or something?

The EU, Canada, Norway, Switzerland, Iceland and New Zealand in particular said that they would jointly pay developing countries 410 million dollars each year from 2005-2008 under the terms of the Climate Adaptation Agreement made at a UN meeting in 2001 at Bonn, Germany. So far, only 177 million of the 1.2 billion due by the end of 2007 has been paid into the funds. Another 106 million has been pledged by specific countries, but has not yet been paid.

These country are the biggest complainers that "something" be done, yet when it comes to take action, they sit back only to complain that the US should do more.

Does anyone want to take bets that the governments already collected the taxes from the people, and are just too greedy to give the money as promised?

Why don't these countrys help the poorer countries with global warming if they believe that this is an issue that will doom all of man kind? Is it just simple greed?

US satellite figures shows temperatures having fallen since 1998, declining in 2007 to a 1983 level - not to mention the newly revised figures for US surface temperatures showing that the 1930s had four of the 10 warmest years of the past century, with the hottest year of all being not 1998, as was previously claimed, but 1934.

News services are now reporting that satellite data is showing that temperatures have be in a decline since 1998, and current temperatures are now at the 1983 levels.

Do you see "global warming" as over? Do you see that temperatures are no longer increasing?

Or do you agree with scientist like Stephen Hawkins who claim that the Earth's temperatures will be 450 degrees and it will be raining sulfur?

What do you think:
1. It's a natural variation and has nothing to do with global warming
2. It's due to global warming (which human activities don't have any impact on)
3. It's due to global warming (and due to human activities)
4. The statement is not true.

Any other comments?
