Since 1998 was the warmest year on record, are temperatures now starting to cool down?

With 10 years of increasing emissions of green house gasses, why aren't the years in the 21 century even warmer than the 1990's?

Will the years ahead be warmer or colder? Please show your work to how you came to your answer.

------------------

"2007 is looking as though it will be the second warmest behind 1998," said Phil Jones, head of the Climatic Research Unit at Britain's University of East Anglia, which provides data to the U.N.'s International Meteorological Organization.

Here are my questions:
1. Which party do you belong to?

2. Do you realize that Global Warming is a fact and is happening?

3. If you do not think that Global Warming is real, then how do you explain the following:
a. melting Arctic
b. delayed cold weather in New England (it was early November and we were still in t-shirt weather)
c. extended droughts in the Southeast states
d. extended droughts in the Southwest states
e. the California wild fires (realizing, of course, that they were started by a child, but they wouldn't have been that bad had the weather pattern been normal, and not as dry as it was)

4. If you are Republican/Conservative and do not believe in Global Warming, then what about God giving us this planet to be good stewards? What does "good steward" mean to you if not keeping the planet from getting over polluted?

Thanks for your time!

Since retiring from the Weather Channel, John Coleman, an internationally recognized meteorologist, has made it his mission to bring sanity back into the global warming debate. He says the foundation upon which these theories have been built are based on flawed science driven by scientists who owe their personal livelihood to grant money that MUST support global warming...or get pulled.

If you would like to see the most recent article, you can find it at: http://icecap.us.

How many more such testimonials do you need to see before you begin to at least consider the possibility that global warming, if it exists, is nothing more than a natural climate change process?

To think our policy makers were about to act on such things as carbon credits and CO2 emmission standards that would deny economic development.

At least the consensus has shifted to an agreement that CO2 emmissions aren't contributing to climate change.

Here is what he said:

John Coleman wrote an article published at ICECAP Wednesday that should certainly garner attention from press members -- assuming journalism hasn't been completely replaced by propagandist activism, that is.

It is the greatest scam in history. I am amazed, appalled and highly offended by it. Global Warming; It is a SCAM. Some dastardly scientists with environmental and political motives manipulated long term scientific data to create in [sic] allusion of rapid global warming. Other scientists of the same environmental whacko type jumped into the circle to support and broaden the "research" to further enhance the totally slanted, bogus global warming claims. Their friends in government steered huge research grants their way to keep the movement going. Soon they claimed to be a consensus.

The scam is over, the people are not idiots falling for big political names and Government paid scientists creating a tax base out of thin air for themselves and partners.

I do not get what is keeping us from getting electric cars to work. We are so dependant on all the worse countries of all. The arabs, are laughing their way to the bank and into world domination because we can't get a electric design to work. Can somebody that really knows tell me, what are we waiting for. It better not have anything to do with the price of stock in car companies. It is a matter of national security!!!

My brother and I bought Renault Dauphines in 1966. They averaged over 40 mpg. For those not familiar with the car, it was a basic 4 cylinder, rear wheel drive car. They had a radio, heater, and standard transmission. I'm curious if the emission controls, and computerised engines that are on the newer cars have decreased gas mileage. With the technology that we have today, it would be normal for every car to have at least 40 mpg. Can anyone explain why cars today don't get better gas mileage.

Here is a couple of graphs from NOAA that show that that the Earth's warming tracks almost EXACTLY to the solar activity.

This graph shows land temperatures track solar cycle length almost point to point.
http://www.oar.noaa.gov/spotlite/archive/images/sunclimate_3a.gif

and this chart shows that the sea surface temperatures track sunspots.

While at the same time CO2 and other green house gasses are increasing exponentially and the temperatures haven't been any warmer since 1998! If man made green house gases were the cause for global warming, how come we aren't getting warmer each and every year?

Isn’t this very strong evidence that it is the sun that causes warming and not man?

Scientists agree that one volcanic eruption emitts as much greenhouse gas as the entire industrial age. Ice core samples have shown that there have been many periods like what were experiencing now, throughout history. Do you really think that we humans are capable of inflicting the type of damage to the planet that the liberals claim? Personally, I think its a ploy by the american communist party to convince people to follow them.

I have just been reminded of some of my family traditions, that maybe helped to inspire my love of the countryside, here are some:

Early morning wild mushroom collecting, just me and my Dad.
Catching crayfish by hand, ankles deep in freezing water.
Always having stray injured animals brought to our home for my Dad to fix wings, broken legs etc.
Blackberry picking from the hedgerows
The family MARCH sorry hike. Hated these because I could never stand and look.
Story telling and poetry reciting. Also being read books and stories about nature.
Winkle picking/messing around in rock pools North Yorkshire coast.
Collecting wild holly and hoping to find mistletoe for Christmas
Taught to shoot from young age.
Extended family gatherings on my Uncle's farm.
As I got older Kes by Brian Hines, The Poacher's Handbook Niall and Greg

What Family Traditions helped inspire your love of the Countryside and wildlife?

Stanford University’s Global Climate and Energy Project seeks new solutions to what they describe as one of the grand challenges of this century: supplying energy to meet the changing needs of a growing world population in a way that protects the environment.

Among GCEP's specific goals:

1. Identify promising research opportunities for low-emissions, high-efficiency energy technologies.

2. Identify barriers to the large-scale application of these new technologies.

3. Conduct fundamental research into technologies that will help to overcome these barriers and provide the basis for large-scale applications.

4. Share research results with a wide audience, including the science and engineering community, media, business, governments, and potential end-users.

The first link is a statement by Project Director Franklin Orr Jr. that is worthy of your time, I believe.

The founder of MTV says that it's not. So does my dog. That makes it 2 against 1, therefore global warming is not a myth!

Seriously though, some random person who doesn't know anything about climate science goes off on an insane and paranoid rant about how it's all a big conspiracy, and we have to hear about it here half a dozen times?

Is this just another sign that AGW doubters have so little evidence to support their position? They all have to make sure everyone knows that some random guy with a TV weather station thinks it's a conspiracy? You can't come up with anything better than that?

How about Ted Turner - he's got a TV station, does anyone care what he thinks about global warming? Why can't these AGW doubters make a scientific argument?

The overcrowding of people on this earth is the root cause of all the pollution, the endangerment of species, global warming, etc... Correct me if I'm wrong but, the more people in the world or i.e. in the U.S., the more demand there is for several products, internet, tv, cell phones, food, fuel, homes, etc... I can see why the leaders don't control the population; it is because the health of the economy will go down but is it really more important than saving the planet?? I think about this everyday when I see new buildings up, more freeways, more chemical plants, more vehicles being made, more of everything. We're viruses consuming everything in our path regardless of what wildlife stands in our way or how much we pollute the earth. What can we do to stop the contamination of the planet? What will we do?
