You MUST pick one "denier" and one "believer."

And if you can't say nice things, don't say anything at all. :)

With only 7% of papers in the last 4 years endorsing "man made" global warming, and only 45% total "accepting" man-made global warming as "fact," can we please, please, please drop the "myth of the consensus?"

48% of papers published in peer reviewed journals in the last 4 years are NEUTRAL on whether Global Warming is "man made" or not, and 6% reject it outright.

It's a "theory," based on shaky computer models, bad data, and rhetoric. As this "follow-up" to the famous Oreskes work shows, science has moved on, and there is no longer a "consensus" in the literature.

SURVEY: LESS THAN HALF OF ALL PUBLISHED SCIENTISTS ENDORSE GLOBAL WARMING THEORY; COMPREHENSIVE SURVEY OF PUBLISHED CLIMATE RESEARCH REVEALS CHANGING VIEWPOINTS

Michael Asher
August 29, 2007 11:07 AM
In 2004, history professor Naomi Oreskes performed a survey of research papers on climate change. Examining peer-reviewed papers published on the ISI Web of Science database from 1993 to 2003, she found a majority supported the "consensus view," defined as humans were having at least some effect on global climate change. Oreskes' work has been repeatedly cited, but as some of its data is now nearly 15 years old, its conclusions are becoming somewhat dated.

Medical researcher Dr. Klaus-Martin Schulte recently updated this research. Using the same database and search terms as Oreskes, he examined all papers published from 2004 to February 2007. T

In California, there are two symposiums coming up that promise to be full of facts presented by educators and those working more actively in the field. I'm asssuming other states offer such fare occasionally. Would you be willing to cough up the dough to hear about the topic from experts, in a forum where you can get answers to your questions?

The first link is to the conference in Sacramento Sept. 10-13. The 2nd event is sponsored by the California Biodiversity Council and takes place in Clarksburg from Oct.3-4.

Propane or charcoal are two known sources of global warming.

Have you given up the outdoor grilling to save the planet?

Do you think everyone should be forced to find other methods of cooking?

What are your plans to grill greener?

Why is using concrete, plastics, steel stone etc better than producing and using your own timber?

...alot of anti environmentalists accuse us of advocating genocide? The point of a planed population size is to keep an eye on the new people being made, not getting rid of those already here. Example: If every couple on earth only had one child (Hypothetical situation) aand lavished all of their attention and resources on said child, global population would be cut in half in one generation. All without "getting rid of" anyone.

I'm not saying that this would be a be-all end-all solution to every problem, or that everyone would go along with it, I'm just wondering why people assume the absolute worst about some of this stuff.

What do you think they though life would be like when they didnt know anything about electricity. Well they figured that out and it improved life. Is global warming just another speed bump to be solved by a smart person or will it be harder than that?

Just a question.

The amount of hysteria being propagated by the zealots behind anthropogenic global warming has gotten to the point where this is more about Eco-Jihad, and Political dogma against anyone with a dissenting point of view, than a thorough and balanced discussion on the many factors that effect earth and its climate. i.e. urbanization, solar output, greenhouse gases etc. Even though you may feel exactly how Al Gore feels on the subject, I fell it is completely illogical to call the single most important element on this planet "pollution". I'm I right on this? Or am i just another right wing hate mongering corporate toady funded by Big Oil? lol, the latter would justify my initial point about what the advocates of this topic have turned this debate into.

Since hydrogen is a good fuel for vehicles , why water cannot be used as a ' fuel ' in vehicles? Why can't the vehicle break up the water molecule (which consists of 2 hydrogen atom & 1 oxygen atom) and use the hydrogen atom for burning and emit oxygen into the atmosphere ?

Global warming is not caused by humans. Climatologist may not fully understand what causes the cycles of the earth’s weather patterns; however, they do know that the earth has a continuing cycle of rising and cooling temperatures. As a matter of fact, the public should be worried if the globe’s temperature was constant. However, people are frightened by change, and the problem in this case is that the change is not bad; it is natural. First, CO2 from humans is not a major factor in rising global temperatures.186 billion tons of CO2 enters earth’s atmosphere annually.90 billion tons is from biological activity in the oceans, and another 90 billion tons is emitted from volcanoes and decaying land plants. That leaves 6 billion tons to be collectively from humans mostly from the respritory procees of releasing CO2 as a waste product.

Then why aren't you doing anything to fix the problem?

Why aren't you developing new engines for cars, or new technology to replace coal burning generators?

Some claim that global warming kills over 150,000 people a year, then they choose to arrange other people's furniture! Do you think it's someone elses job to fix these things? Take action yourself!

So don't you think that it would be better to develop a device that pulls co2 out of car emissions, or whine about people driving SUV's?

If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem, right?
