ozone depletion is caused by CFCs, but Global warming is caused by the greenhouse effect . CFCs and the greenhouse effect are cause because of hairspray ,fire extinguishers, and more stuff. What's the difference between te two because i read about it in wikipedia and for some reason I keep getting confused with this stuff. EXPLAIN IT 2 ME

Depletion of the ozone layer was mostly caused mostly by chlorofluorocarbons used as refrigerants, as aerosol spray propellants, and as cleaning agents. Chlorofluorocarbons (CFC's) "attack" ozone molecules and destroy them. They also act as very strong greenhouse gases.

The greenhouse effect is the process by which certain trace gases in Earth's atmosphere absorb incoming radiation (heat) from the sun and trap it in Earth's atmosphere. Without the greenhouse effect, Earth would be a frozen wasteland.

Global warming is caused primarily by emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere, which results from the combustion of fossil fuels. CO2 is a greenhouse gas, and adding more of it to the air will increase the greenhouse effect and cause Earth's temperature to rise.

Global warming and ozone depletion are two quite different things although there are links between the two.

CFC's is the name given to a group of gases (chlorofluorocarbons), there are other groups of similar gases as well - HFC's and HCFC's. One of the best known of these gases is Freon (CFC22 or dichlorodifluoromethane).

These gases were responsible for depleting parts of the ozone layer. Their use has now been banned and the ozone layer is begining to show signs of recovery (ozone is produced naturally and in time the damage can be self-repaired).

Global warming is primarily caused by greenhouse gases, the main ones being carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide. These gases do not contribute to ozone depletion. However, the ozone destroying gases (CFC's and the like) also contribute to global warming but their role is small compared to the other greenhouse gases mentioned above.

The hairspray that you use and fire extinguishers have a pressurised gas propellant in them that forces the contents out when the nozzle is pressed. Previously the propellant in your can of hairspray would have been one or more of the CFC gases but nowadays it will be something else (usually butane, propane or isobutane).

Ozone depletion is caused by chlorine. All of sources of depletion you have mentioned have a chemical make up of chlorine in them. Now take a look at the evaporation of chlorine from swimming pools.

cfc's caused the ozone hoax...er...hole.

co2 causes global whining...er...warming

isn't propane, butane, and isobutane, in fact hydrocarbons (manufactured by BIG oil)?

and releasing them contribute to smog (as unburnt HC), and in fact is the same stuff your automobile can fail a smog test for?

also since propane, butane and isobutane, are related to methane. what is that doing for AGW?

Really not much to explain. The earth is drying & so are we! In the end, will any of this really matter? I doubt it. It DOES keep people busy & mentally challanged, though, doesn't it?
