RECYCLING COMPANY GETS PAID FROM RATE PAYERS VIA THE COUNCIL FOR COLLECTING CARDBOARD AND PLASTIC BUT INSTEAD OF RE USING MATERIALS IS DUMPING IT IN ITS OWN PRIVATE LANDFILL,SO MUCH FOR A GREENER COUNTRY. IS IT COUNCILS PAYING FOR LANDFILLS THROUGH THE BACK DOOR AND MASSAGING THE RECYCLING FIGURES SO THEY DON,T GET FINED FROM THE EU.

That is one "inconvenient truth" Al Gore failed to identify. Massive amounts of methane are released each day into the earth’s atmospheres with the world population passing gas. Should the new Democratic congress pass legislation banning the fart?

Keep in mind that the logging industry uses huge amounts of gasoline/oil cutting and transporting logs to the paper mills, which are among the worst air and water polluters, and that due to the difference in weight and volume, it takes many more trucks to deliver the same amount of paper bags to the stores than it does plastic. And of course, plastic has its own drawbacks.

I'm interested in studying environmental design, but I'm unsure about a major. I'm interested in Urban ecology, Industrial/urban/environmental development and design (large and small scale), and sustainable business. Any suggestions on programs/schools/majors that would make the best use of the progress the green building movement is making. Not only would I be interested in building from scratch, but really updating exisiting homes and businesses to be more environmentally mindfull. Something like the Green Bakery http://www.buildagreenbakery.com/... where all aspects are considered.

The EIA recently announced that China would surpass the US to become the world's largest producer of CO2 in 2009. Yet the most recent data (2004) at EIA's website shows that China was very close in total fossil fuel CO2 emissions to the US way back in 2004. Projecting 2000 - 2004 increases into the future, China would have passed the US in 2006. Why isn't China already the #1 nation in CO2 emissions?
