I live in N/carolina. I am 14 but 7th grader. I want to skip this grade in the middle of quarter and to finish the year being in 8th grade. Can i do it now? I am not gifted but I got all my courses A. So, is that availavble to skip a grade only by my parent nomination?? that they want too. if my dad talk to principal, can she let me to skip a grade simply?? I am ashamed being with kids. I don't want answers like to not skip--but how to do it? is there anybody who know that some people skip agrade b/c of being overaged? Please!! I am really hurt mentally to be in here. PLease!!! But tell the effects would happen in high school like concerning loss of courses. but I am strongly determined that i can do in next grades without difficulty. Please help me!! please!!

I've always wanted to write fiction, yet when I write, it reads back horribly.
So, I thought perhaps I should finish college. Something that I started a hundred years ago, & then my writing will definately improve.
At my age, is it a good idea to spend the money to finish college? I mean what are my chances of actually being hired?

To the adults who actually studied their way through high school and maybe some kids still in, does it bother you that people on here use Yahoo Answers as a way to get their homework done for them? I mean, I busted my butt through high school to get good grades and these kids are just asking to have it handed to them... WHAT BS!
I'm very frustrated because when a great piece of literature is just tossed aside as "homework" instead of read I think it's a waste of a teacher's time and efforts.
By the way, studying to be an English teacher so excuse me for being upset...
Please give opinions.

The only reason I'm trying in school right now is to get into a good college, I don't genuinely enjoy most of my classes. I take honors/AP classes, but I can't figure out how to become more motivated.

My1st grader daguther iscoming home with a note from teacherfor talking. She was in private day care for 4 years where she never got a single note. Then she went to public school kindergarten for one year where she was never in trouble. In first grade the teacher is telling that she talks a lot. None of her teacher complianed before. She is very well behave and mannered girl. Her Teacher is picking on her for sure. How2 handle this sitution. We really need help on this issue .

I really suck at math. It just doesn't stick with me. Also, my teacher is a really strict person. There doesn't seem to be a nice thing about her.

Today she was yelling at me for not getting an assignment done on time. (We needed to use those stupid $80 TI calculators and I don't have enough money to buy one so I need to use the schools during class. So basically if there's homework, there's no way I can get it done.)

I don't know why but I kinda get emotional sometimes, especially when I'm frustrated. No matter how much I tried to stop them, these stupid tears of frustration starting coming out. I was so embarressed because then she tried telling me that I shouldn't be crying because as she put it 'this is tough love'. -_-

Now I have to go see here later today and I really don't think I can face her. I've already been avoiding her in the halls. I feel like crap now and I'm afraid I'm going to start crying in one of my other classes or when I see her again. What can I do? T_T

ohmygoodness. Well I need some serious motivation here. I've missed about three weeks in total of school already and I just want to keep skipping. My work has not been best quality, I hand it in late, I have horrible study habits. I've never had such problems with school, but with high school I just dont care anymore. It really scares me, I do not want to fail and I realise I need to start picking things up.

Does anyone have any motivational tips/study tips anything to help me keep on top of my work?
As well as how many school days am I allowed to miss? Can I make up for it in second semester? Thanks everyone :)

I am an instructional tutor to a group or class of high school special ed. students. My co-workers and I have this one problem with this one child, she has a BAD hygiene problem. The begining of the school year was ok, she was bathed, I'd say at least 2 times a week. My mother knows this student's aunt and she told her that the girl's mother has got a new boyfriend and neglects her kids (child abuse?) and her entire family is upset with the girl's mother. I hate to be mean but the girl BADLY stinks and we the tutors don't know how to break it to her mother that she needs to bathe her as her mother seems like a sweet person. Our boss is out for a week and I don't think we can wait that long as this has been going on for 3 weeks. Any professional advise? I feel bad for the girl too, as she is not all that capable to think or speak. We can set up a parent-teacher conference but like I said our boss is out. Don't accept the child until she is bathed or how do we break it to her mother?

I plan on majoring in some sort of veterinary science when I go to college but I don't know which elective I should take in high school. I have 3, but I'm going to fill two with AP Physics and either Calculus or Pre-Calculus.

Its the last elective I'm worried about. Should I take either:
1- Accounting 1
2- AP European History
3- Psychology/Sociology
4- Earth Science
5- Spanish 4
6- Conversational Spanish and its History
