I recently heard of a teacher who daily requires her students to raise their arms above their heads. If there's any skin around the belly or waist showing, the shirt doesn't meet dress code.

I applaud such a thing. Do you think that public schools en masse could get away with doing a daily check like this without parents screaming "interference?" (In my opinion, the parents screaming that would be the ones who don't bother to parent to begin with.)

I always get in trouble in "free periods?" In kindergarten, I would always get in trouble in nap time. In high school, I get in trouble because I don't want to do anywork durong this mandatory study hall. It's not because I'm lazy, I always finish my homework. I just don't want to do it just then. What do you think I should do?

The cafeteria in my school sells Tyson chicken sandwiches. Tyson is where KFC gets its chicken from, and if you know all about KFCcruelty, then you know what my concern is.
But how do I get our school to stop getting their chciken from Tyson? And, if I can't do that, how do I raise awareness in my school about the issue?

I go high school, not middle school.

My boyfriend's daughter was accepted to a desing program at another high school. Since she wants to go into graphic arts, she decided to go. The school is in an all black neighborhood, and was 75% black, 20% Spainsh, and 5% white or "other". We didn't think this would be that big of a problem, since her previous school was very diverse and there was never an issue.

After about the second week of school, the black students decided they wanted all of the white students gone, and were going to make their lives hell. They would hoot and holler at the girl and yell obscenities. One girl pushed her head into a locker! The teachers did nothing about it. In fact, they were barely even teachers. They spoke "ebonics" in class. I read several comments on her homework, and words were spelled incorrectly. My husband actually called one of her teachers, and the teacher said, "She ain't funna last here long!"

My question is, in this day and age, how could this happen? What if it were vice versa?
