pretty much any shape you choose is going to be math related. It could be a triangle a pentagon or even a snow flake. I would choose based on what information I could find. For example, a triangle with red and green glittter would be eaiser because there are lots of information about triangles like the pythagoras theorem etc etc. A snow flake would be nice but the explanation gets more complicated because it deals with fractal math and fractal imaging. Very interesting stuff but it may be a bit complicated.

look around online for how to make an origami ball....I made one in my algebra class years and years ago. You can talk about all of the shapes that are present in the ball (overall circular shape, the triangles seen on different sides, as well as other shapes)....then you can also talk about volume, diameter, circumference...because it is a three dimensional object there will be a lot more to talk about and it will look really nice. Plus this is something definately more advanced then a few cut out triangles :D

Use geometric shapes like a triangle to make a wreath shape on green construction paper. Add circles for berries and ornaments. Cut it out. There ya go!
