I'm currently a junior at Penn State University, majoring in Human Development and Family Studies (Child development option). I've been working in a preschool this past year and have developed an interest in becoming an elementary school teacher, teaching kindergarten or first grade.

I've actually taken and passed the Praxis, due to my interest, but it's too late for me to switch majors...My field of study is greatly related to children/education, but was wondering-- what will I need to do if I want to teach and have a degree that is not in education?

I'm interested in working for my Master's at some point, but what possibilities are out there for me until then? I've heard that private schools do not always require a teaching certificate--- anyone familiar with the salary of working in a private school??

Thanks so much.

I feel that nowadays in schools, an inordinate amount of time is spent going over past papers in the hope of predicting what will come up in that particular years exam. There is very little practical work or learning by discovery. Surely this is the antithesis of education in the true sense of the word. Does anyone have any thoughts or feelings on this?

I was just wondering what my chances are to getting accepted into the howard univeristy school of business. I am a junior in high school and I plan on applying early action. I am a male and I think this will benifit my since the majority of the students at Howard are female. I have a 3.0 GPA, and I have taken all honors courses. I have been class President, Treasurer, and vice president as well as an active member of DECA and student council. I am a varsity athlete and have done many community service acts. I have not yet taken my SAT's but I plan on getting over a 1050. I am taken both the SAT's and the ACT's. I have good comunicaton skills and I believe that I will be able to write a solid admissions essay. I have also had perfect attendance since I started school in kindgarden. Thank you in advance.

are they the same?
im currently choosing what highschool to go to, and im really leaning toward this really good highschool with an honors program. my second choice includes an AP (advanced placement) course in the highschool, but im wondering if those are the same.

Both school offer IB (international baccalaureate), but im not interested since only a few good universities in North America recognize the program. so, my question is, are they the same? should i go ahead and take the honor classes?

Ok, so far this year I been doing ordinary level in class. But next I’m going to be in last year of school and I want to do higher level but what way should I ask him about it? Should I just ask him would he give me a higher level exam in the summer test?? . Or what way do you think I should ask him? He told all of us about what he thinks of your English and he said about myself that’s its ok but I should read over my work because I do get mixed up in a few words. My grade in the Christmas test was 77% . It was easy in ways . My am frightened that I would be to late to change to higher level if I wait . What do u think of this ??

As I have been through the horrible rebel war in my native Koidu Town in Sierra Leone, all my poems(except one) are based on my experiences as an internally displaced person and a refugee -since July 31st, 1997- in Guinea(Conakry), Senegal and The Gambia.
Also, I have worked variously as a Classroom teacher , Peace Builder, Development Worker in schools and with multinational civil society organisations in Guinea and The Gambia.
My poems are particularly aimed at discussing themes ranging from peace vs war/combativeness against a background of poverty, corruption, etc; love vs hate ;Africa's beauty; modernity vs tradition, grief/pains/strife associated with the hardhitting realities of the life of a refugee, who has been forced out of the peace or tranquility of his/her the community once known as "home".
