I am currently setting up workshops for young people and would like to include some lighthearted, fun, motivational games to make them feel more relaxed at the beginning, and also in the middle to break up the session. Any ideas?

Not really sure on age ect so will try my best to answer.
brainstorming and ice breakers are fun and can get people to know one another really well in a short space of time.
What would you do if you won a million pounds? type of questions to get to know them and one another.
young people like secrets this game is done in large group or small but not to small. each has a strip of paper and have to write a secret about themselves on it. It is then put in to a pot or hat shook up and then in turns you take one out. First person reads out secret and you all have to guess whos it is.
You as teacher also have to join in i once wrote "I pooed in the bath" Everyone laughed their heads off I was only three lol
Good luck
ice breakers are excelllent.

Huge resources in libraries on educational based motivational tools.

You need to be more specific about the subject matter, can be quite easy to invent your own game, but it does depend on space, age, no of children, money, time and the 'point' you are trying to make/explore.
