I feel that nowadays in schools, an inordinate amount of time is spent going over past papers in the hope of predicting what will come up in that particular years exam. There is very little practical work or learning by discovery. Surely this is the antithesis of education in the true sense of the word. Does anyone have any thoughts or feelings on this?

I definitely agree with you. As a high school student, I feel that we are taught to learn merely enough to pass the test and retain zero of that knowledge. I often feel that the top 25 students in my class know hardly anything and are merely striving for their top class rank rather than a top education.

I agree but it seems like we're learning more at home because of all the homework that they give us which makes the 6 and a half hours at school pointless and it makes our life harder with homework I cant join an after school activity because my activity is doing homework and I cant see my friends and there are no rules to learn since everyone Can slip right through the rules so I agree with you.

Yes, I still feel like this in my freshman year of college.
The one class I care for is English.
English actually requires an application of knowledge and ability in order to write papers.

I agree wholeheartedly. The only real thing I learned in college was how to organize my books and homework and stuff.
