I plan on teaching a unit in which my sophomore English students (high school) explore questions they have about other cultures around the world. The plan is to have them research the answers and turn that research into children's books. I would like to have some models, real picture books that give insight into other cultures around the world.

If nothing else, can you help me find a good place to start?

Will you share your approach to "dealing with" the overly sensitive student. I teach music in the public school system and each semester there is inevitably one student whose anxiety about playing in front of the class causes him or her undue stress.
These are 1st to 8th graders, and it's usually the younger ones who have the anxiety issue.
Separating them by age is not an option. I've resorted to just not calling on that particular student to play in front of the class, but that seems counter-productive. Any suggestions?

A number of questions are asked by the people of other countries, relating to their country. But, some americans answer them thinking it is regarding their country. Should they not be taught Geography from the lower school level? They should have interest on other countries also.
