It's very nerve-racking and you feel so tiny compared to the older kids. You wonder if you'll ever find your way around the school, if you'll be trampled on in the bustle, if you'll do well in your subjects and you're terrified of stories about kids getting their heads flushed in the toilets (an urban legend that is the fear of all primary school kids!). But, by clinging to your friends on the first few days, you do start to relax and see it isn't so bad. By the second week, you have settled in and began to make new friendships and soon start to wonder why you were even so nervous in the first place!

I think US kids are so lucky because they are about fourteen when they start high school. Spare a thought for poor British kids who are often only about eleven when they start and it's even more frightening for them because they are in a school where the senior pupils are more adults than children!

exciting.. b/c you are finally starting High school.. and it can get a whole lot more stressful b/c of the higher exppectations.. and just a little note.. that would help with you not getting lost.. if your school has an orientation... or something that goes on before school starts so taht you can find your way around... GO TO IT.. and make sure you know where all of your classes are and anything and everything else.. that way on your first day of high school you will know where all of your classes are and where you are giong

Luckily when I was in 8th grade they took everyone on a tour of the High School, so that made things easier. If your High School is very big, you might get a bit lost, but otherwise you'll be fine. :)

It is exciting, scary, fun...But it is like any other school. You will be the youngest class member, but you will get used to quickly. Watch and learn so that when you are a sophomore, Junior and Senior you can really enjoy high school.

i was scared and nervous. i had moved to a new school district in the city so all of my friends from 8th grade all went to the same high school, but i went to a different one and knew KNOWONE, except 2 girls from gymnastics, but unfortunately, i didn't have any classes with them.
i had knowone to show me around the campus, but i didn't get lost which surprised me.
and then the school started this volunteer program for juniors and seniors, to show around incoming freshman around campus, it's a 3-day orientation for them. and me and my friends decided to be leaders for the incoming freshman so i'm gonna have my own group of freshman that i'll be helping out during the school year.
you'll always remember your first day of high school though. i do.

Nervousness, confusion and a bit overwhelming. Don't be afraid, though. Most people will help you find where you're going. By the end of the first week, you'll have the hang of it.

Pretty scary, like getting punched in the gut. But you will soon get over it and have a wonderful time.
