I figured, instead of wasting most of my time on a sports forum, I can do something productive with it and learn something new.

I love History and would love to learn more, but where do I start?

Should I start in the beginning, Ancient History?

I know Americans who live in Seattle and they don't know where British Columbia, Canada is. They have no clue if Canada is a country or if it is led by a president or prime minister. Heck they don't even know what a prime minister is. If Americans don't even know about their neighboring countries what do they know about any other countries? Is this a sign that they are uneducated or just self-centered?

How many of you had teachers who gave you a hard way to go, and then retired immediately after you passed their class? My 9th grade PE teacher did it. My Spanish 2 teacher did it. My HS principal made an announcement at the end of the school year. He said "You guys are seniors who are graduating. I am graduating, too! I am retiring." I had a teacher who gave us our hard final exams and retired immediately after we left class.

It is more important to write a curriculum vitae to attach other profiles for employment. The CV tells more about yourself and experience.
In most countries like Ghana CV is most needed for job placement. Most talented and qualified people are denied their employment because they fail to write better CV.

just close school at 1:00
Instead of building schools all the time, we could just have
larger schools to begin with, and we could have
city activity centers for parents that work all day, which is most people.

In other words, have the DISD school, teaching 3 MEANINGFUL classes a day, and save all this useless study hall and extra cariculum BS for the activity centers, which would run from 1:00 - 7:00 pm.

You would still have football and cheerleading, it would just be
EXAMPLE: Yellowjacket football team
REPRESENTING: The DISD ACTIVITY CENTER
(rather than the actual school)

YELLOW JACKET CHEERLEADERS
Representing: THE YELLOW JACKET ACTIVITY CENTER

It would still be part of the DISD or whatever district

I know I would not be lonely going to the one where I know lots of people, but I'm afraid I will get distracted from my work. Whereas, the one where I don't know anyone scares me because I don't want to become lonely. Which one is better if you want to study well and be happy?

I am looking for single page handouts with illustrations, formulas, or at-a-glance factoids that students can just "grab and go."
Various topics: Algebra, English, American Government, A & P, Medical Terminology, general study skills, MLA format, how-to's for Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Photoshop, Flash, Dreamweaver, etc.
Send me some great website resources! Thank you for your help!

I've wanted to be a funeral director, mainly embalmer, for a long time now. I talk to a female FD (who did my mom's funeral and who married into the business) and I also talked to a school for mortuary science (business manager who went to that school) today and was told by both (both female) that although it's not impossible for a female, it's very, very hard for them to make it and that to compete for jobs, they have to really stand out among the crowd and basically work twice as hard as a man would. Both were trying to discourage me, but neither had any reason to lie to me so it must be true, right? I mean, they're actually in the business so they obviously know a thing or two about it. I've never been a "go getter" (I know that's bad!) and I don't want to waste my time going to school if I'm not going to be able to get a job. Does anyone who is in the business know?
