In my opinion:

Catholic schools in the United States provide a very good moral and religious base for children. As a rule they are also safer than public schools.

Educationally, most of them are above average. Although some are exceptionally good and a very few are bad. Your school or the diocese should have some test scores for comparison.

In general, Catholic schools do a good job with average and above average kids.

However the resources of most Catholic schools in the United States are limited. If students need extra attention due to being way over or way under average, then their needs may not be properly met.

With love in Christ.

I'm currently a 3rd year at UCLA and many of my friends have gone off to many other prestigious universities such as :NYU
Columbia
Stanford
Northwestern
USC
Georgetown
Berkley

....and these are all my close friends. I went to an all girl Catholic College Preparatory High School and i wouldn't change it for the world.

With the troubles of the public school system with over crowding, lack of resources, drop out rates, and lack of Advance Placement classes that aid in college preparation and certified teachers most public schools don't cut it, especially since california is continuously ranked in the late 40's on a scale of 50 in public education throughout the Nation.

Catholic School did not "shelter" me from the "real world" if anything it prepared me even more than public school students because it pushed us to continue on to higher education, not only that but to 4 year universities and graduate school which is the "real world"

Research the school first, make sure you are paying for what you get. Some private schools are not a great deal than public schools out there. Search for college preparatory that focus your child's education on helping her achieve her goals. If you do decide that public school is the best option being personal or economic reasons (private schools do offer financial aid or scholarships ) but if that is not an option check this site ( http://www.greatschools.net/ ) for the ratings of the public school s in your area. Your number one reason for sending the child to school is for her to succeed, and whether it's public or private support her throughout her educational career!

It really depends on the schools, you should check into both schools and decide which one you believe is best for your child. It seems silly to pay for a private school if the public school in your area is one of the top schools or if the private school doesn't do much better then the public school.

A good school is a good school. If there is an outstanding catholic private school near your home, one that exceeds the public school by so much that it is worth the monetary trade-off, enroll your daughter there.

public, I am a product of private schooling and I would never do that to my kids!
Catholic schools tend to be too much not "real" world and therefore the kids do not learn what the real world is about and have a tough time making it out there.

I continuously based coaching judgements on the coaching my young ones get, no longer on no count number if there is hopscotch painted or no longer. no longer on how surprisingly the development is. look into the attempt rankings of the two faculties, commencement costs, college front costs, etc. the college that has greater advantageous-performing scholars is the single to choose for.
