I guess it really depends on how much more information you have about the phone number you're trying to find the area code for. If the number is in your state you could try checking your phone book. I know that the PA phone book I have has area codes listed for all the different counties. You could also try www.whitepages.com they have an area code locator that uses the city and state of the number you're looking for. Below is the link for the area code locator. hope this helps some.

It depends where you live, I have to enter the area code. I just tried it without the area code, & it didn't work!!! But I know some areas are able to dial without an area code!!!

I assume that 723 is the prefix.
That can and is used in any area code.
