If a person has just joined a company as a supervisor, there would be many workers under him. He has to learn how to communicate with them, sensitive to their needs, etc. Would like to know which course to take to make the environment a better place?

At my local community college, there's a whole section of courses in the "Management" section. All involve classes like that: Building Workplace Morale, Communication in the Workplace, etc. Also, community colleges offer Communication Studies classes on similar topics: effective communication with all types of people, in various situations.

You definitely would be interested in how to communicate effectively, how to build good viable relationships, how to promote and build morale, and how to respond to situations diplomatically yet get the job done, etc. So, I would suggest taking some classes in human resources, management, and office/business communications. You could probably take these online if face-to-face courses would not work for you because of time constraints, or if time isn't a problem for you, then check the availability of these courses at a nearby or local community college. Chances are your employer would even agree to pay the tuition and/or the required textbooks for you because by taking these courses it will make you an even greater asset to the company since it shows that you have an interest in being the best supervisor that you can be. Also, taking the Dale Carnegie course "How to Influence People" is an excellent choice as well. Good luck!

This may sound cheesy but take a Dale Carnegie course (author of the "How to Win Friends and Influence People") or you could take some general management courses at a community college.
