I received a letter in the mail today inviting me to apply to the Honor Society Membership, Magna *** Laude. It's from collegehonors.org. Is this a scam? When awarded something like this, does it normally come from the university or through an organization like this? I don't have to send money or anything until I get accepted, if I want to join. I was just wondering if anyone has ever heard of this...Thanks!

I'll be a sophomore this coming fall at this not much known SUNY college. I want to transfer to a better known SUNY... at least for my major - legal/forensic/criminal psychology. For instance, Binghamton, Stony Brook, Geneseo, Albany, or Buffalo. Or maybe even somewhere else, I don't know yet.

I found a "Transfer Credit Equivalencies" page in my school's homepage. There, I could find out what courses (at my school) equal to what courses (in other schools). Well, out of all the SUNY colleges I have listed above, they only have Buffalo. Does this mean no courses in my school equal to Binghamton, Stonybrook, Geneseo, and Albany?

I'm so new at this stuff, please help me!

Where and how could I find out what courses are transferable?

I want to make up my mind on where I want to apply (to transfer) and what courses I should drop/add for the coming fall semester before I actually start my sophomore year (which is in a few days!) -eek! :-(

These are the two things I'm slightly worried about:
1. I chose not to declare a minor just so I could graduate with my B.A. sooner. (I will graduate in May 2008.)
2. My GPA is 3.25; neither bad nor great.

I know I'll have to do very well on the LSAT. That said, I've worked 12-30 hours a week in retail all through college. My major is Political Science--fairly challenging, right? I started out as a Civil Engineering major, and that killed my GPA my freshman year. I've involved myself in extracurricular and community activities: Right to Life, Relay for Life, church, the Honors Program, tutoring students in the Disability Resource Center, etc.

Assuming my LSAT score is good, what are my chances of being accepted into a law school somewhere? Thank you!

i keep getting all sorts of stuff from the university of miami, and i dont even know what their majors are. or what they focus on. do they have a good business section? how hard is it to get in? they want me to send some applications and stuff, should i? i am a white male living in texas. i know that white males are less apt to get into a college over a female from another race. how hard would it be to get in? what all do they cover?

thanks!

I am about to start my college life at a university about 7 hours away from my home and in the fall of 2007 i will be a freshman.

This past weekend i just went to a 3-day orientation and the school wasnt exactly what i imagined and i missed my family so much that i wanted to cry. I am a very shy person and its difficult for me to make friends and talk to people and i have never met before because sadly, i dont talk too much. i regret going to this university now, i picked it over another university that is 1 hour away from my home.

so now, i want to transfer to that university after my freshman year is over, but i have no idea if that would work. i heard it is very hard and i just need some help! i am currently a psy & social behavior major and i want to be a school teacher.

ok so down to the question - how can i transfer after freshman year from UC to UC? should i apply as a transfer student in nov?

I am trying to decide which class is better for me to take for 1st period...

sadly our high school counts student gov't as "a class" and it only offers during 1st period !!!

on the other hand, calculus bc is at the community college, but the time is same as our high school's 1st period !!!! (finished cal AB and passed AP exam)

the teacher who's incharge with student gov't class doesnt let me have the class on other free period!!!

So, I want to ask ..which class should I take based on applying UC and good private college?

I just dont feel like I fit in with everyone else. College isn't my life, I don't spend every waking hour studying. I don't brown-nose for college scholarships and internships and all that. It's just not me. I just go, do what I have to do, and go home.
Getting straight A's isn't as important to me as it was when I was a freshman. I feel kinda burnt out, and losing my motivatoin, while my other classmates are all motivated and goal oriented. Is something wrong with me?

I just finished my first year of undergraduate degree, so three more years left, but I wanted to know how many majors can I take once in law school. I want to do corporate law but I'm also interested in sports law, and real estate law, is it possible to be practicing all three of these once I graduate from law school or do I have to stick with one?

im 17 and a HS senior.
1)i went to a conference the other night called "40 colleges that change lives".now it makes me feel like if look at any other college than the ones on that list, i am making a mistake. how do i get over that thought?? i know that that list was made by one person(loren pope) and their opinion, but i still feel as if those are the best colleges and i have to go to one of them.

2)i have done well academically in school, straight A's,etc. Its been hard work and the whole time i thought "i am doing this to get into a good college". lately, i realized that a good college is different for everyone, its not just UCLA or Berkeley that will define a great education(im in cali). So if I am looking at a small liberal arts college that accepts people with lower grades than me, i feel i shouldnt apply there. i feel i have great grades, and that i should only go to a college that i got into cuz how well i did in HS. I know its a wrong way to think, how can i get over this?

I'm wanting to become a vet once I get out of highschool. Right now I'm in the 10th grade, I'm taking the highest science related courses I can right now. But I just don't understand where to go after highschool.

Do you need to go to a 4 year college or university majoring in some kind of science, THEN afterwards you apply to one of the 28 vet universities? When exactly do you take the GRE and other tests that a lot of vet universities require? Which kind of college/university would I go to straight out of highschool, graduate or undergraduate? After you finally finish becoming a vet, will you have a master, bachelors, or what? About how many years does it take, and does that include internships or on the job training?

I'm just so confused! It would be so great if someone could kind of make a step by step guide. I've searched the internet but every website just leaves me with more questions. =(
