OK, I'm in my first year of high school right now, but I was wondering, what would my major be if I were to become a plastic surgeon?

EDIT: OK, I think I understand now, but I have another similar question. I'm going to have taken at least biology, chemistry, physics, geometry, algebra II, and calculus before my senior year is over. Will any of these courses count for college credit? Or do they have to be taken at a college?

Pre-Med, although on some campuses that is not a major. On some campuses you major in bio, or chem, or both, or anatomy, or none, and just take the pre-med classes and be an art major.

Biology or Chemistry since you're going to have to take looooootttts of sciences in order to get into medical school and pass the Medical Exam (like the SAT for med school)

Also, take art classes such as sculpture so that you are familiar with how the face or body should look.

Most people who want ot become a doctor major in biology or chemistry as an undergraduate. You need to take all the Pre-Med courses. If you take them -- then it doesn't matter what major you have.

Your school probably has someone to advise pre-med majors. Talk to that person.

You can major in anything in college as long as you fulfill all your premed requirements which are two courses in biology, two in chemistry, two in physics, and possibly some in math and english. That being said, most people tend to major in biology, chemistry, or biochemistry because some of the pre-med requirements overlap with the science major requirements. However, you can major in anything you're interested in and med schools are looking for students with diverse majors and interests. I know of a history major and english major who went to med school.
