I am a grad student getting a masters in education. I am having some serious issues with a woman in my classes and I am not sure if I should talk to the professor or not. In our class last semester, she always paired up with me in groups. I didn't mind at first, but I then got the sense that she was trying to use my words and ideas. Now we are in another class together and she asks me what is going on in the class every time we meet. I am just not sure she should be in grad school to be a teacher and I have no idea how she got here. Her spelling and pronounciation of words is horrendous - like that of a second or third grade student. She has also made some very racist remarks and huge generalizations about "minorities". Her presentations have been lacking in research and it seems like a lot of the information she presents is made-up. Should I have a talk with the professor about her? I am sure that her shortcomings have been noticed, but I don't think she should be teaching anyone!

I was wondering if you get a D+ in an AP class, if you still get the credit for it, so that it doesnt have to be retaken.

Why are some doctors crappy? Do all doctors care about their patients? Also, do some doctors have better intention that others, such as a cancer doctor/oncologist versus a plastic surgeon?

I will be attending Cleveland State University this coming fall on a full ride in academics for a major in Accouning. I was just doing some research and discovered that it is a tier-4 college. Is this going to play a huge factor with my success in finding a job out of college? Is it bad to go to a tier-4 school?

Hi,
I have a degree from outside the US (I live in the US now). I would like to apply to the medical school and I have two questions (university advisors don't always respond and some are NASTY with foreign students). My degree was in biology. I am familiar with most medical school req but have the following questions:

1) Will it be a problem that I have an international degree esp when filling the AAMC application or any step in the application process? Anyone with a similar experience?

2) About recommendation letters...what do you do if you can get a letter from someone (job or courses) now but plan to apply in 2 or 3 years? You can't always keep in contact with them and you can't garantee they will remember you when its time to apply. Is there a service or something in the AAMC website or your target university to keep your letters on file until you complete your application?

Thanks...

I'm starting college soon, but I'm not sure what to take, I initially wanted to get a business degree, but alot people are saying that its over rated. All this degree stuff is really new to me, I just want something that I can use and not be in one of those situations where I have all these student loans and no job. Are there any suggestions? I really want to take fashion, but everyone's like you wont be able to find a job, but that's where my heart is. I dont know what to do!!!

As I understand it New Labour has created a new idea of balance: balance of power between workers and employers; and the balance between liberal pollicises and the investment in the NHS and education.

I don't mean easy and a slacker college where you do nothing, I mean a more bohemian sort of college, with courses focused more on creativity and learning through hands-on experience and through things students can relate to. I'm a very smart student, but I don't function well in schools with strict discipline and that beleive that if you can't write something down and sit and listen and just smile and agree and not get verbal and debate and have a different opinion than what is considered "true academics". I want to know if there are any colleges that focus more on philosophy and art and music, rather than on more typical subjects like math and business. I'm not putting down the colleges like these, I jst want to know some good colleges unlike the typical ones.

Whay is race on the application form? Wouldn't it be better if we eliminated race from the admissions process entirely? That would create a society without discrimination, yes?

I've pretty much been a beach bum my whole life, and now that I'm married, my husband (who's in Iraq) says I have to get a real job. I'm great at sales, but hate it, I want to be a dentist, but feel like i missed the "lets go to college imediately after H.S." boat. Ya know what i mean?? I want to help people, and make good money, plus I'm obsessed with oral health, but I don't want to be stuck in school until I'm 40. Not to mention i'm way to busy for a set schedule, I need online courses as much as I can get. Do you know a good online college? How could i just up and leave my puppies for hours at a time?

I have 1 week left of class and I have no clue what I am doing. I feel completely lost and when I explain to her my background is different for everyone else- I just get a tuff sh*t response. I have no clue what my grade is in the class, she just sent me and email that my grammar is terrible and she doesn't agree with my opinions or any of my case suggestions!! But that’s all it says- she doesn’t agree- not how to rethink it or improve it or anything constructive. Did you every want to smack a teacher in the back of head with her own text book??

I know you can't tell me what to major in, no one can, really, but could you please give me a few suggestions based on my interests and strengths? Also, some ideas as for schools (I would prefer to go up north; NY, Boston, etc.) would help too :) Thanks a lot, in advance!

Interests/strengths:
-Politics
-English/literature/writing
-Philosophy
-History (but I don't think I would really want to major in it)
-Government
-International relations, etc.
