All those options will still be open to you if you have a degree in Finance -- but the finance options will not be open if you have the general degree. Just make sure you take a few classes in other fields (like marketing and OB) to be well rounded.

BTW -- Finance pays better.

Don't switch. Finance opens you up to all the careers a general business major does along with financial careers. Also, finance courses are seen as more rigourous so when you're applying for jobs your GPA will be seen in a more favorable light.

Finance is specialized, so it's *easier* to find a job at GREAT places like financial institutions or large corporate companies. Once you get your foot in the door, you're "in" as far as job opportunities go. General business, however, is a waste of a degree. Nobody will want to hire you because you have no specialized skills that an entry level person needs to have for what they want you to do. You'll be skipped over and over and may have to settle for something really awful, like fast food services.

Finance majors start off with a better salary...and I'm sure you'll have just as much job flexibility with a finance degree as a general business degree.
