I want to go back to school to finish my BA. I'm 30 years old and the last semester I was in school my grades dropped. I really want this, though, and have my eye on a very competitive program. How do I convince them I can do this?

My 'rents want to pay for some expensive summer classes I want to take at an ivy league as a visiting student, but I want to pay for it myself cause these classes are just for fun and don't count towards my degree.
Should I take their offer or am I doing the right thing by rejecting my admission and going next year, which by then I should have saved up some of my own money and pay for it myself?

What's better for me?

1. Go to grad school in a small, lonely city where I don't know anyone, have no friends, but am well acquainted with reputable faculty members. I'm prone to depression.

2. Go to grad school in a large city where I have some close friends but I don't know any of the faculty.

These are the reasons why I want to transfer. I want to transfer to a school that has a top 10 engineering program with strong academic competition. I want to transfer because sometimes I feel like im an outkast because i have little in common with the activities that my school run and the people that attend it. Also some people think im too nerdy especially girls and I plan to improve on it but I want to transfer to another college to start fresh to aim to be well-liked and popular

Students: If you attend an out-of-state college, do your parents pay for your housing if you pay all of your tuition yourself? What is usually the case? Thank you.

That is my ultimate college goal.

I've already checked out the facebook that they offer annually, and the scores require a minimum of around 1900-2000 out of 2400... but with the competition...

Is it very hard to enter?

Please offer any advice if you've enrolled in or applied to this college in eastern Canada.

I am 23 and I have a Sociology degree and will finish my MBA in a year. I am thinking about going to law school in the future however I have always wanted to go to medical school too. I started college as a biology major but struggled through my sciences for 2 years before changing my major altogether. I thought about going back to school and giving the medical route another try but I don’t want to waste my time if my struggles now are just things to come in medical school. I struggled mostly in physics and math. My transcript for the first two years as a biology major does not look too impressive and as far as the science classes I got A’s and B’s in, they did not come easy for me at all. It wasn’t until I changed majors that I started bringing my grades up. Does it sound like I would set myself up for disappointment if I try the medical route again or do I need to stay with what I am good in?

Going to a college with more elite students, attending a school because of more to do, and attending a new college because you feel like an outkast of your college and want to start over.

I'm a junior taking calculus AB right now and would really like to take no math next year, I wouldn't be slacking off, just focusing on other things. There are a bunch of reasons for me not taking it, and one is that I really don't think I'd do that well at the next level of calc, which could actually hurt me for college...also I want to major in something like biology where you need pretty much zero math skills. I'm not talking about getting into Harvard here just something good like UCSD...Anyone who has done this, or knows if its a bad idea?

Now that it is the time of year where hopeful future scholars are having fates decided by the all-but-transparent grad school application process, questions are arising. How is it that one can get a fellowship at a top program, yet be rejected by mid-line programs? What exactly is the logic behind who gets accepted and rejected to a program?

(And please, spare the trite "Sometimes life just works out that way" bit.)

I'm planning to go to art school and i'm just wondering if these schools are paticular about the content of the highschool transcript. I've done a lot in high school, but i've been homeschooled and I am not strong in academics. So I cannot list all the "typical" classes on my transcript. Would this be a problem for trying to get into an art school. Apart from the academic side, i have potential and i am passionate about art and I am not lazy.
