My 'rents want to pay for some expensive summer classes I want to take at an ivy league as a visiting student, but I want to pay for it myself cause these classes are just for fun and don't count towards my degree.
Should I take their offer or am I doing the right thing by rejecting my admission and going next year, which by then I should have saved up some of my own money and pay for it myself?

hi,
its great that your parents can afford to make you such a loving and very generous offer. but, now would be a good time to do things for yourself if you are able. it will make you prouder of yourself knowing that you did it on your own. pay for it yourself. good luck!

Do they not offer the same classes at a public school, in-state, closer to home? What about volunteering or interning for the same experience. No one is going to ask you what classes you took at an ivy league school one summer More power to you if you can pay for it yourself but...

Take your parents up on their offer and save your money if you really want to go. You can use your funds for living expenses, books, future tuition, tranportation, board, etc.

I think you should take them up on their offer (they WANT to pay after all) and use your money to enjoy life. You only get to do it once.
