I have been accepted at the college that's second on my list....I really want to go somewhere else but won't have a final accepted/not accepted notice until April. In the meantime, my 2nd choice college is sending me all kinds of "do this by this date" correspondence, i.e. - apply for financial aid, register for classes if you want to be sure to get that class.....do I need to do this stuff now? Can it wait? Should I call the admissions office there to find out protocol? Help - I don't want to mess up my choices with a bad decision!!!

I m 25 & I had discontinued my BSc in 2003 while I was in my 3rd yr due to sudden death of my dad. I have all 3yrs failed (due to absentee) college marks cards. I could not continue studies as I flew to gulf & now after 3 yrs I m returning to Bangalore & I desperately want to continue my studies. I have lost confidence in clearing my incomplete BSc. Hence advise me if thr is any degree equivalent courses in computers (like programing & networking - I have relevent work experience) or any course / field which is easier to pass. I just need a degree equivalent or degree certificate to back me on my CV so that I can join a good company. Kindly advise me the course, institute (preferrably Bangalore), approx cost & duration. I would b greatful for my whole life for ur valuable advise.

Regards
Shiva

Would you mind explaining the difference?
Moreover, do you have any evidences? (Not necessary)
Thanks a lot!

When I graduated from a top 50 university, the cost for my four years of education totaled $16,000 and I got an entry level accounting job for $14,000. In other words, if I had had no expenses and no taxes, I could have paid for my college education in 14 months.

Today my university charges $160,000 for the same education which means that a graduate would have to start a job at $140,000. I have a feeling that college graduates are forced to pay much more for an education but don't have the same payoff as graduates of my day.

Any comments?

The deadlines are different for the two places I plan to apply to. I know that I will get into the place with the early deadline, but my chances of getting into the other are better if I wait to apply after my summer courses are over. I need to know how long I can wait in between.

Cal Poly Pomona i mean. I want a place where few people pass by to disturb my reading time. someplace outdoors, with trees for shade. Maybe a bench to sit on but its not required.

I really want to earn a PhD in the area of humanities. What advice can you give me? I finished my BA a year ago, and haven't been doing anything academically, but I have a passion for writing and researching and would love to be able to earn a doctorate sometime within the next 5-10 years.

Any advice or information you can provide would be greatly appreciated (for example, what type of person you need to be in order to succeed in getting a PhD, and any other valuable info/websites)!

Take airplane wings. They teach our kids that the plane flies because of lift due to the shape of the wing. (Bernoulli principle.) That is not true. If that were true, then a plane would be unable to fly upside down. If that were true then aerobatic planes would not have wings the same shape top and bottom.

Take simple machines. They teach that there are SIX...when in fact there are seven. Examine a bow string. Do some measurements using A^2 + B^2 = C^2. You can use the same method to pull a car out of a ditch, by pulling sideways on a rope tied to the car and a tree. You have a mechanical advantage until the rope hits a 90 degree angle where you are pulling. That meets the definition of a simple tool yet it is never listed.

How come the teachers never QUESTION what they teach?
No wonder American students are doing so poorly in the sciences compared to other nations.

Please help me interpret a dream.

I was seated in a balcony enjoying telling a story to an old friends. As I was looking at a distance, a building collapsed! I was stunned... After several seconds, another building collapsed! Then after several seconds, another one collapsed... until finally, I felt that the earth is shaking... Then, I woke up.

I'm a sophomore and will be graduating in 2009. I plan to attend UC Davis, but I'm trying to find out exactly what I need to do in order to be accepted. I have a 4.0 GPA, and I will be taking 1-3 AP courses next year. I'm on the track team, and I'm also involved in clubs and other extracurricular activites. I know that UC Davis is a difficult school to get into, so I was wondering if anyone can suggest anything else I can do. I've spoken to my counselor, but he didn't seem motivated. I really have my heart set on UC Davis. Thanks ahead of time!!
