Higher Education (University +) - January 2007

Being 25 well seems like I should start looking into a longterm career field so can someone please give me an answer. I live in colorado in the denver area but if the school is good than I would be willing to move. Any ideas?

I'm in school, then i'm out. It used to be longer when i was younger.. weekends.. vacations.. everything! i need more time, but time is so short.

is it just me?

I heard a rumor that if you apply for the summer session instead of the fall session for a college/university that you will have a higher chance of getting accepted. Since I dont have a very good gpa I am hoping that this rumor is true and I should just start applying for the summer sessions instead.

Does it matter that much? I wouldn't consider myself a very religious person but the only schools that are located around my home seem to all be private religious universities. Would it matter if I went even if I'm not religious, as long as I'm able to attend some sort of university?

I'm 34 and I had been a software developer for the last 10 years. I was pondering what I really want to do with my life. I thought long and hard and I really want to become a doctor and help people who are suffering. I already have a BS in BA and I'm currently taking the pre-med science classes. I will be 36 when I apply for med schools. Is 36 too old to get into this field?

i'm in highschool taking college courses, and for my psychology class, we have to write a report recapping a paper that she gave us. Hi My name is Lex and I am a senior in high school. I just recently got accepted into Bloomsburg University for 2007 but I'm REALLY SCARED! I've never really been an "intelligent" person...i failed math my freshman year and honestly can't even understand HOW i got into college! The college told me that i would have to take a summer start program in order to enter into there fall 2007 classes. I'm really nervous that i won't be able to pass college. I never really gave a damn in high school and now that i look back on it I REALLY wish i did care! I know it's kind-of late to want to change now since I'm a senior but the truth is i want to change! I want to do better i want to study more i want to focus more...but i just have trouble focusing on things outside of "friends" and "boyfriends" I don't know how to study...i don't...i need some help please give me advice. I want to do well in college and i want to do well for the end of my senior year I want to change but nobody believes in me!

I do alot of community service, but currently not with Alpha Kappa Alpha, inc. Should I realign my community work, to reflect my interest in AKA, Inc? I am very interested and know the basis about the organization by doing my research, My question is how do one become a member of th graduate chapter, but will the service projects I currently participate in, be enough? AKA, Inc. is in my heart, but I don't want to be severely overextended where I am not giving my best to all my commitments and proving my value to the organization.

I am looking into entering a PhD program in Hispanic Linguistics. I'm currently a high school Spanish teacher. The program offers teaching assistantships but I was wondering on average how much is this stipend? Is it enough off which to live? Ideally, I would like to leave my high school teaching job while working on the PhD program and I am trying to decide if I can afford it. (I am married with 2 kids).

Does anyone happen to know of any really good books or sites online to use as reference for college calculus courses?

I have the "Calculus made easy" and "How to Ace Calculus" books but neither are very detailed and help all that much.

I browsed through "Calculus for dummies" and it looked even worse than the books above.

a recent Bank Account Statement, as "evidence of means of subsistence".

It has my name & address (which they have anyway), but it also has my account number and bank sort code ~ but no security details. That's not enough to commit fraud, is it?

They're a reputable company and wouldn't ask for it if there was any security risk, would they?

Should I blank anything out before sending them a copy?
