I also had to withdraw from a class in college, because I was in the wrong class level, but did not find that out until after the add/drop period. At the time I remember being somewhat devastated to have this W mark on my transcript. However, as long as you don't make it a habit, it should not effect the opinion of someone reviewing your transcript. One, MAYBE 2, W's are understandable, but after that it could start to reflect poorly on you. Don't worry about, no one has ever asked me about nor has it ever had any impact on me.

W means "Withdrawal". If you withdrew from the class after the standard drop/add period (usually the first week of class) you get a "W" on your transcript. It does not affect your GPA. Many people withdraw from a class if they are certain they will receive an "F" because the "W" on their transcript will not affect their GPA. Most people have at least one or two W's somewhere on their transcript at some point but too many W's doesn't look that good.

It just means that you withdrew from the class. It does not look too good on your transcript to future employers or to higher education if you are continuing on to get your masters or doctorate degree since it implies that you might be a quitter. It looks better if you try the course at a later time however.

All it means is that you withdrew from a class. By the way, it doesn't affect GPA if you withdraw from a class.

I think you need to go back to class, it doesn't take much to try and put that together.
