I am graduating in May with my bachelors in social work. I want to get my masters. I am interested in the juvenile justice system. I am confused on whether It would benefit me more to do my MSW or master in criminal justice. I do not want to limit my job opportunities.

I know a D is passing but isn't technically a D- passing too? Only an E or F is actually labeled as "failing".

Lowell High School's got a good reputation with the UCs and Ivy Leagues, or so I'm told, but it also has 40+ students to a class. University High School is supposed to be just as well-known (when you take into account that it is a private school, after all), but because I've been with public schools all my life and have no friends who go there, I'm uncertain whether the counselors there were just being biased. Both schools have elective classes I would be delighted to take, but I'm also very interested in how colleges might look at this.

If it's relevant at all, University (the private) has just under 400 students, whereas Lowell has 4000. Oddly enough, two perfect SAT scores came from UHS last year, and none from Lowell.

Would colleges like a UHS-graduated kid, or Lowell- graduated one, if they had the same SATs, GPAs, extracurriculars, etc. Which would you be more enthusiastic about attending?

I was taking 3 courses and I just took my final.

I have got: B(4units), B (3 units) and ?(4 units)

that ? is an unknown, but I am sure I did a bad job....it should be D or C.....

why am I getting a bad GPA?? I have heard a lot of successful storys about students getting high GPA. it seemed that high GPA is easy to achieve. but now i know it is not. It is VERY hard to get high GPA. what does it take to get a high GPA? (I used to have 3.75 in high school, now I am suffering in college, WHY??)I am a science major and I planned to be a medical doctor. how can I go to grad school with this low GPA? *tears*

what should I do to improve? I am a freshman in a community college. I need to transfer!!!

in college, are classes available at all hours? (example: you could take a 3:00 am class)

if not, what hours are classes generally offered? (example: if the earliest class starts at 7:30 am and the late class ends at 8:00 pm, you would write 7:30 am-8:00 pm as your answer)

I plan on earning my Bachelor's in Marketing, and I would like to know if there is a good source online for learning about schools before I narrow my list down to which ones I would visit. I am 26 and prefer a small to middle sized respected school in Southern California. I seem to be having trouble finding anything myself!

If I made poorly on my first semester in 9th grade but I barely passed with a 60, Yet I made all 95's and above on the last semester of 9th grade and 10th,11th, and 12th. If I made good on SAT and ACT as well would that still qualify me for an academic scholarship?

Hey Everyone! I'm wondering what AP classes really are. I have an option of taking AP World Studies II next year in 10th grade but am not sure if I should take it. I heard that you should only take APs in classes that actually have to do with the job/career you are interested in...is that true?...Do APs look good on your transcript and do they help you cut off time in college? (like instead of four years, you only have to go for three?)

Thank you so much! Happy Holidays!

Here is my symptoms can you see if you can figure out my problem? I failed my freshman year in high school, I got to college and I said I was not going to make the same mistake. Got there and sort of took advantage of my freedom. I barely went to class because I never really learned I usually would have to take the book and learn it on my own. I would wait to the last minute to do stuff because I liked the adrenaline rush and simply because the material would be fresh on my mind if I were to study like a day before the test. But doing it this way caused me to fail even though I felt confident that I wouldnt. And when I try to start studying early I never can because it bores me and I usually wind up doing something else. I try to change but I can't. I need any help I can get to change this because I don't want to be a failure and let my family down.

I'm taking an english class next semester at a part-time college, but the book we're going to be using is the Bible, or the modern revised Bible. (it's not a religious or spiritual class, just a writing/composition class). The problem is that i'm not christian. I know we're going to have to write papers about stuff from the book. And since i'm not christian, i have no clue about anything do to with the Bible. 1st of all, is it right for a teacher to make the book the Bible (i'm not concerned, just curious for your opinions) and 2nd, What should I do? How am i going to pass the class?

Whenever I call about my courses, they just give me the run around. Doesn't anyone do any work? Or is their main duty to transfer you to another department?

I have a problem with academic papers. Even if I sort of know what I want to write, I can't figure out how to start, and particularly how to organize my paper. This has become a serious problem, even though when I do finish the papers I usually get A's (if they're on time). I just can't organize my thoughts into a good outline. I look at it like this: there are an infinite number of possibilities of how one can argue something, organize the paragraphs, which details to use, etc. It's like mild OCD or something. I've noticed that if I have a glass of wine, which I rarely do, i can write more easily, but I don't want to have to drink to write. Please help! I have a 7 page paper overdue and even though it's not that much, I just don't know how to go about it! Please save my academic career! Thank you!

I am a transfer student from a community college. Now I am in a 4-year university, and I am wondering, when I apply for graduate schools, do they count the overall GPA (including community college) or just what I get in the 4 year university?
Thanks.

You know - when you leave high school you go to be an undergraduate - in UK we choose our subject before we start, in the last year of school, for example I have a degree in Religious Studies, I chose this before I finished my A-levels. How does it work in US, I know it's different but how?
