It is only passing if you don't need that class for your major. For example you are an athletic training major who got a D- in Spanish. however if you are an athletic training major and get a D- in human Bio you will need to take the class again because you need at least a C. So if it's not part of your major you passed congratulations. If it is part of your major retake the class and you will get a better grade.

Only a D is a passing grade if the classes are NOT from YOUR concentration. but there are some colleges that the passing grade is C and that's final.

A D- is a professional way of saying, you did not make the grade!
A rude way to say it is to give you and F.
Actually, there are only A, B, C, F, but then there are those that earn an F-

Not in college. Most of them require at least a C average.

technically yes.
but nowadays, there is a lot of competition out there, so anything under a C is not even looked at as a taken course.
As for the grade point average...don't look at the minimum requirement as your goal...

a d- is passing, but i know and you know if you study harder you can bring it up to a c or d. but yes it is passing. it is saying that you dont know enough about the subject to do anything with it. therefor you need more info, which means you need to study more. sorry. merry christmas. and study, study, study.
