Back in about October, I was under the whole "yay total freedom!" thing, and ended up getting into trouble (I harrassed a girl). I got Disciplinary Probation as a result.

Now, I know what I did was wrong, but please, no yelling at me or anything, I've heard enough. I already corrected myself by writing an essay on harassment/I wasn't required to do so, but I did it anyway, thats how bad I felt .

Anyway. I have a disciplinary record on my name for three years ,so half-way thru senior year I will be clean again. I can petition to have it voided earlier, but that's not a guarantee.

Someone told me that now I will never get an internship to complement my CS Degree, even if I had decent grades!

Is that really true? I figured it would play a role, but if you explained yourself, it wouldn't be so bad.

Now, please, don't call me a swine, etc. I do not treat women badly. I made a silly mistake, and learned my lesson. Friends say I'm a nice guy who has a little too much fun sometimes...

I am a sophomore at Cornell in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences...I want to get my undergraduate degree in Mathematics and possibly a minor in Economics. I am pursuing both of these right now. When I complete my undergraduate studies, I would like to stay at Cornell to continue my graduate studies. Has anyone had any experience with getting accepted to a graduate program at Cornell if they were already an undergraduate there? I will be applying directly after finishing my undergraduate degree. Will Cornell be less likely to accept me than someone who applies from another school, simply because I was already at Cornell and they want more diversity?

Thank you.

I am trying my hardest to make straight A's (even though I think I might get a high B this semester), I am planning to join two or three clubs next year. Currently I am participating in a soccer team and I have volunteered in a charity organization for three years in a row (christmas stuff). I really have no clue on what's good or bad for my college application, so I thought I would ask on here. Thanks in advance.

I know you can with University, but can you transfer community college credits? I am starting college to become a Paralegal in August, but my mother, who I plan to live with, may get a transfer to Florida next December. Would it be possible to start college here in August here and transfer my credits to another one there? Or would I have to start all over again, which I really really REALLY would not want to do.

I know this is probably a stupid question but I dont know much about transfers. Thanks

okay, im a senior in high school and i applied to Adelphi University's Honors College, and i did not get accepted. I have a 3.7 average on a 4.0 scale. Im the president of Key Club, a communtiy service organization in my school, im the Vice President in Speech and Debate, im captain in a church organization, im a member of SADD, im a member of the National Honor Society, i receieved a full 4 year scholarship to the private school i applied to, i was nominated for so many awards, im in many college classes, i already have 24 college credits, and 6 more to receive this senior year. For my SAT, i got a 590 for reading a 590 for writing and a 500 for math. THey are only counting the reading and the math, so all together thats a 1090, which is 110 points lower then needed for honors college. Can they just not accept me because of one test? the SATs determine my entire future? is tehre anyway i can get into the honors program when im a sophmore, should i try to reconvince them? im lost, help

I'm thinking seriously about moving to Boston within the upcoming year. I'm only 18 right now, but as soon as I finish my AA degree out here in California, I want to either attend boston University, Boston Baptist University, or the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology. I plan on becoming a psychiatrist and also getting a degree in biblical counseling while writing novels on the side. Is boston the place for me?? I was thinking of Allston specifically.

I am currently a graphic designer w/ a BFA under my belt and have been working in the industry for about 4 years. Am already getting bored with it especially working with unappreciative people. Am considering pursuing a degree as a surgical tech, as have always been passionate about medicine. Plus, the money would be better and I would feel more stable in financial side as my field now doesn't pay great. Has anyone jumped careers and felt satisfied with the outcome? I'm 25 so not sure if this feeling is common among those my age. Thanks for all your help!

I am in 10th grade and taken a class that was not required without realizing it(AP computer science 1, JAVA, I already have a technology credit from 9th grade). Now the class is getting harder and making C's. My counselor says I can drop it after 1st semester. My other grades are good, A's. I did not tell the counselor I would be applying at ivy leagues. what impact is it gonna make if I drop the class now? It is gonna show up on the transcript that I have taken the class but dropped in 2nd semester. But I have other required courses to take...PE, Health, speech. I cannot afford to go to summer school, either. My parents are PhD. students...We are on loan. Will ivy leages understand that? Beside I am new to US from south asia. Don't know English fluently...yet I have taken Pre-AP class(English, too).

Hey

I was wondering how deeply a four year college would look into your disciplinary records, and whether the school discriminates based on the records. I am applying to Cornell, Harvard, and University of Michigan, and I'm not sure if a short suspension or dismissal will hurt my chances. Thanks.

I know I'm repeating this question somewhat, but it's because I don't believe my original question will ever be answered at this point (4 days old).

This is mostly for professors on this board (I know there are some). I'm a first year math graduate student at UCLA and I have a very frustrating problem. I know the material very well in pretty much all areas, but I don't seem to test very well. It's a very irritating problem because professors seem to only be impressed by exam scores, and so all my work seems to be going to waste because it's not showing up on the inclass exams.

So I guess my question is this: Did any of you have this problem in graduate school? If so, what did you do to correct it (or did you have to)? I really need some advice on this because I don't know what else to try.

And for profs in general, what's a good way other than exams to impress you? I would think being knowledgeable is the way, but I'm afraid with how my exams go it may not be.

Thanks!!

I know it's sooo classic but I need help.I have gained 70 pounds after my delivery!!!this is insane.I can't stop eating late.I work 8 to 6.Everyone at work is implying that I should loose this weight. But the more they put that pressure on me the more I eat.I now weigh 231Ibs.Is this because I am getting divorced?and living in my parents' house with my parents, 2 sisters and a brother?I suffered from a very abusive husband.I can't forget how he used to treat me.I hate him.I am trying to raise a wonderful boy who I believe is the reason that I'm still here and writing these sentences.
I know my problem is much deeper than just loosing weight but I know I would feel better if I get rid of these pounds.
C'mon girls! give me an idea.Is there anylight at the end of this tunnel?
