Higher Education (University +) - August 2006

Hello everybody. I am getting ready to transfer to a bigger University, and I was wondering rather to live in the dorms, or get an apartment? Pros and cons of each? I hear that if you live in an apartment, you often don't make as many close friends; is this true?

In a Graduate Level Course what is the lowest letter grade you can recieve that is still passing? I've heard that C is failing, but I've also heard that D is passing as long as you have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher, but that class may not transfer over to other schools you might attend in the future. Does this vary from school to school or state to state? Does anyone know the REAL answer to this??????? Thanks!!!

such as a " University of Miami,Duke,Georgia,Maryland etc.. as of a non-known school? even though the same people have really good resumes,good GPAs?.

I got a scholarship to attend a non "big name" university,but I wonder if i will get any good jobs when I graduate. (Also internships)

ok, im going into my sophomore year at a pretty good private high school. grades arent a huge problem: (our school makes us plan our 4yr courses) ill be taking 4yrs english, science, math and language, plus im taking a second language next year (chinese!) and got some art tucked in there. im taking a lot of ap classes and am in honors, and im motivated and all that, my problem is extracurricular activities! can anyone give me things to do! i was thinking of volunteering at the hospital my mom works at, and also maybe getting a part time job? im not a real sporty person, so i feel extracurricular is the one thing i have left... any ideas?

Is it better to take a subject you're familiar with, or does it not matter? My mom took an online algebra class and struggled with it since she had to teach herself everything. I'm thinking about taking Astronomy or English...any suggestions would help!

Especially if the felony was for stealing textbooks from another college? What would you do? If this person was already accepted to your college, would you try to have him removed? What about if this person had a job on campus giving access to goods such as books all day long? What if you knew this person had committed perjury on his/her application form for the college?

Next year I will finish school and apply for university studies. I live in Lithuania, a former country of the EU. Everything is very dull here so i thought it would be great to study elsewhere. My biggest desire is to emigrate to New Zealand, because of its people scenary climate that you will find nowhere else in the world. But what worries me is tuition fees as me and my family have very little money due to the poor country's economy. So i want to ask if there is any way of taking a loan, financial aid or something that could fulfil my dreams.

I'm going to The University of Texas to study Biomedical Engineering. I got a scholorship to do engineering, and my family is full of engineers---they are all civil, petrolium, mechanical, or industrial.
I was wondering where I could be employed, and how much money will I make (a range). I'm planning to go back to school for another four years to do Optometry, but if I could do well in Biomedical maybe I'll just stick with that. Thanks

Hello guys I'm a WASP guy and my wife is jewish. When we go on vacation to Mexico the people always try to speak in spanish with my wife because she has black hair and brown eyes and then they supposed she is mexican. But when for some reason they try to talk with me they do it in English because I'm blonde.
Then my question is: why the jewish pretend to be white when they have a tan skin color?
