ok, im going into my sophomore year at a pretty good private high school. grades arent a huge problem: (our school makes us plan our 4yr courses) ill be taking 4yrs english, science, math and language, plus im taking a second language next year (chinese!) and got some art tucked in there. im taking a lot of ap classes and am in honors, and im motivated and all that, my problem is extracurricular activities! can anyone give me things to do! i was thinking of volunteering at the hospital my mom works at, and also maybe getting a part time job? im not a real sporty person, so i feel extracurricular is the one thing i have left... any ideas?

Here are a bunch of activities:
- working at an afterschool program
- having a children's story hour at the library
- tutoring your peers
- working at a soup kitchen
- being involved with school clubs
- being involved in politics (you are too young to vote, but not to volunteer!)

As far as working, some work experience is great, but you don't need to work 20 hours a week to get into a great school.

Good luck!

Volunteering is a great thing, but leadership also plays a big role. Make sure you have at least one leadership role where you hold some kind of responsibilities.

At my school, we have tons of service clubs that do community service projects each week. Grab a bunch of friends and it's never boring or tedious.

Volunteering at the hospital sounds great! Soup kitchen also looks good too. We also helped clean gardens.
Good luck!

Congratulations! I went to the University of California, Davis (Class of 2003). Significant reminiscences had been establishing my eyes to connections among the quite a lot of disciplines I was once learning. As you development via your common schooling standards (i.e., shrink department guides external your foremost subject of research), you can as a rule observe a few commonalities, identical veins of inspiration, and one consistent that I'll not ever put out of your mind: the whole thing you research includes a research of historical past, be it normally or the certain historical past of the field to hand. The extra you'll recognize how your foremost suits into the better snapshot of human historical past, the extra satisfying and enriching your school revel in might be. Have a satisfactory time, and high-quality of good fortune to you!
