At my school we file FAFSA. It is a big application that MUST include your income tax info, as well as your parents'/step parents' no exceptions, except if you have a kid. My parents told me they were not going to pay for my schooling, but they required me to include their income and therefore said we had enough money to pay for it. I had a friend that moved out of her parents' house because they had some problems and she is still required to get that tax info that her parents refuse to give her..that is unfair she makes 6$ and hour!!! They told me I have to include my parent's income until I am 25 (which i'll graduate before then). I though things would change now that I am married. I no longer have to include my parents income. I qualify for grants because of our income.. but the school is giving me the run around because they don't want to hand it over. Any one else have stories that are unfair b/c of ur situation that is making your life more difficult?

I made a lot of mistakes in undergrad and I got a low GPA. I got my bachelors in psychology and want to get a masters in school psychology. All my undergrad professors told me there was no grad school in the country that would accept me with this GPA. Is there anything I can do like take classes over or something to get accept into a grad school? I'm willing to do it no matter how long it takes.

I wonder if anyone feels the same. What is wrong with me? It seems like I've become completely obsessed with killing myself over the grades I had for Fresh, Sop. Junior year. There really isn't anything to be so proud about, I have high ambitions but I am my own biggest dissapointment. What if I don't even get accepted into State? My average GPA is a 3.2, I had a 2.5 overall last year, I'm not really happy. I feel sooooo insecure right now

I didn't go to college right after high school (very long story). My SAT score wasn't that great so I've been wondering if I should take them again. Or would it really matter at this point since I've already graduated from high school?

I would like to attend a four-year college, but I'm also thinking of going to a community college and then transferring. I am interested in the medical field.

And possibly a medical degree too! I mean, consider the top schools. PhD schools include Stanford, UPenn, Michigan and a few others, and their acceptance rate (PhD program, not Masters) is 4% or less. Law schools are about 7%, even at top ones like Harvard Law or Stanford Law. And Pharmacy PharmD programs are about 15% at top ones like Michigan (4th in nation). Some one explain this to me

I am interested in going back to school to get my Masters in Bussines. The school I received my BS degree at makes it easy for me to transition into the Masters Program? Is this wise or does it make a real difference to go to another school?

You really might not want to use the term "prestige" or agree with it, but you know it's out there. I mean, law and medical degrees are greatly respected, and thus, I think 99% of us would say those two degrees are very prestigious, if not the most. But if you were to rank various professional schools in order of prestige, how would you rank them, and why? Consider these professional programs:

Law
Medicine
Pharmacy
Veterinary Medicine
MBA

There are also others, but I think these are the primary ones. I'm only focusing on professional degrees here, not graduate Master's or PhD degrees.

Your two cents?

I am re-submitting the question with the following details:

It is purely for PLEASURE, I do not intend to use the MA for anything but my own enrichment. My job pays well enough, the MA does not have any effect on job advancement.

It does not have any impact whatsoever on our finances (my employer will pay for the courses).

It does not affect time spent with my spouse (I am foregoing another regularly scheduled activity to return to school).

The only reason I have received from my spouse is that "you already have enough education, you don't need any more than you already have."

Thanks to all who take the time to answer!

I have been in school pt and now ft for the last eight years. I am 29 with 2 semsters to go unitl I have my college degree from a 4 year school majoring in sociology. I like school but recntly I have started procrastinating and getting behind, makeing bad grades. I don't have the time to devote to my studies b/c I am the single parent of three young kids and in a bad relationship. I have an offer for two really good job and I am scared if I take one I will quit school. I thought about taking a semster off, but you know the saying you'll never go back. I know I need the degree to stay off of public aid, sect 8, but I need a break. I think I am in love with the idea of achieving, but getting very discouraged. At the same time I need that degree for upward mobility my kids are depending on me. What can I do to get excited, motivated, and stop procratinting.
