Intellectual property is important so that inventors can invent products without someone copying it and selling it (infringement).
Without intellectual property laws in the global market, nobody will try to invent something original and there will be no new innovations.

China, Russia, and many third world countries have violators and the governments do not take steps to stop them. This costs companies trillions in profits, and reduces the marketing appeal of these countries as consumer markets for high quality goods.

I think you mean protection for intellectual property?

It's very important to the entertainment business (Hollywood, and record labels). Intellectual property rights assure that their work is released as a product, and capital is earned.

One of the biggest violators of intellectual property is actually China, movies and music are illegally copied and sold at an alarming rate - this represents the loss of billions in potential revenue for the respective companies.

I don't need protection from intellectual property.

However protecting intellectual property is important, and in a global market increasing difficult. To keep balances in demand and supply protection for intellectual property needs to be provided.
