I did not do well my first year of college and the last 3 years I received A's and B's but I was never able to get my GPA up above 2.9 no matter how hard I tried. It seems that it is easier to make it go down than up. How can I get into a grad school with that kind of record behind me?

At the beginning of starting university. Is it most important to socialise and make new friends and go to parties, or just concentrate on your work, and have fun if you can fit it in? Some people say the first year of uni is so easy. I cant imagine us having to pay £3000 a year for an easy ride. Any tips on keeping a good balance between having fun and doing well in the course? I am a slow worker I admit so always spend longer on my projects than most people as am quite a perfectionist. I wish I wasn't so precise, but it's the way I have always been. But I don't want to miss out on the whole uni life style experience because I am too busy doing my work.

My history teacher said that we could not use a certain encyclopedia b/c it was for elementary kids. I can't remember which one he said, and he isn't really the type of teacher you can just ask again. Is it Britannica? or what? Do you know of any really good encyclopedias?

I am requesting permission to join UM because I am interested in the events that take place on your campus. I am a student that graduated from MHS (Miramar High School) in the field of Aviation with a 3.4 GPA. My SAT score is a thirteen hundred and my ACT score is 24. I was a member of the varsity football team, and gained over 100 hour in community service hours. My attitude towards anything is to put 110 percent in anything I do and perform exceptional.
Now why do I want to join UM well first you are the home of the Hurricane, one of United States top football team, but mostly after observing campus activities, and the events that take place such as meetings and the outstanding performance of teacher I was focused on joining UM. The learning environment is rich, and teachers do no fail to help you in anyway possible. For example, I was visiting the school, and I need to find the nearest computer to e-mail my counselor telling her that I loved UM, but I got lost and went up to one of the teachers Ms. Jill she referred to all the computer areas. Not only did she referred to all the computer areas she also gave me a map of the location of building on the campus.
I could also help in events that take place on your campus. Such as helping in clubs like the Chess club, or joining some kind of squad, or even helping in campus work like campus clean up, or security guard service. I could help the staff service like in the library, or helping in the office. Like I said putting more than 110 percent into everything I do would ensured you that the work I do would be as if a perfectionist did it. From all the campus work I would do my name would be know all around campus, it like if you come up to any student and say “who is Junior ” I can ensure you that a majority of people would say “I know him, he is the boy that is always doing something on our campus, and getting all those good grades.”
Thank you for taking your time to read this letter. In closing this letter I hope you consider me as a wonderful candidate for your school UM home of the Hurricanes!

Mine is downright crude and moody everytime he teaches! If somebody was lost(which isn't a surprise because sometimes we all are.)...he would say, "maybe you shouldn't be here." And if others asked him a question about what he just discussed...he would go, "What?"with a mean stare. He would just be frustrated all the time! He also likes to say "well, too bad!" without listening to reasoning!

Of course higher education is always a good thing, but I already have a LOT of business ownership experience so to go get a business degree would be ridiculous and not useful. I'm bored and I want to go back to school, but I'm over 30 and can only think of a degree in something like philosophy or something. Any advice?

In my college goverment class, the professor gave us an assignment. The assignment was to go out near a road and set a timer for an hour, and durring that hour we were to count all the blue cars and then go back the next day and tell the professor how many blue cars we saw in that hour. Everyone who did the assignment failed, becuse he said that we should not have done it so blindly. That we should have asked him what this had to do with our class. So I failed this assignment, even though I did what he asked! Is this fair?

To prepare for Pharmacy School at USC, should I do the 2-year thing at a community college and transfer into USC? Or should I go to a state university for 4 years and then apply for graduate school? Or should I go ahead and go to USC from the start and continue to remain there through graduate school? I'm looking for a path that gives me a better shot at getting accepted into Pharmacy School, but at the same time, I want to save a bit of money and time. Which can fulfill my credit requirements that will better prepare me for the required tests and for Pharmacy school in general?
