Higher Education (University +) - June 2006

I dropped out about a year ago because of personal reasons. My goal is to attend school at Duke University or University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, both competitive & hard schools to get into. I'm currently attending a community college & trying hard to obtain my A.S. in general studies. After looking at the university websites, I couldn't find any helpful info that said that I could get in with a GED. Collegeboard.com also said that they don't accept a GED... I'm just wondering if collegeboard.com might be wrong. Do they still accept you with a GED?

I am going back to school full time to pursue my dream of being a geologist while I still can. I am 34 and am a single mother with not much of a support system in my area. I am a little afraid but think of women who have beat the odds with more then even one child and know I am focused and can do it. Does anyone have any advice to make this easier?

Because there is no God there is no sin, would there be a rise in murders, rape, incest, etc? Do you think that because there would be no sin there would be anarchy?

I was just wondering what are some of the stipend numbers you know of that TA/GA's make at the graduate level at university.

Please do not include tuition reimbursement. :)

Thanks all!

I am 23 yrs old and I work at a retail store. My boyfriend and I had to move in with my parents, because we can't afford rent on a place. I should have gone to college like everyone else when I graduated (I would have graduated by now) but traveling and concerts seemed like more fun, and I figured then that I'd go a year or two later, well it's been 5 years now and I want to obvioulsy do the right thing with my life, but I am stuck between two options. I either go to college, get a degree and be broke for 4 more years, living with my parents (That would suck) and dorm rooms are not an option. And then pay out my *** for 20 years on student loans, or I could take free training to become a certified nursing assistant.....who starts out a $12 an hr. with raises that could lead up to $20+ an hr. the more years you work. then I'd have more $ and could move out, and fend for myself, But I really am lost here, I need help. Would college and student loans be the better option? Or the nursing?
