I was just wondering what are some of the stipend numbers you know of that TA/GA's make at the graduate level at university.

Please do not include tuition reimbursement. :)

Thanks all!

Stipends vary depending upon the following factors:

Location of the university (urban = high cost of living, rural = low cost of living)

Discipline (sciences can generally provide higher stipends than humanities)

Endowment/funding of the university (large endowments sometimes translate into higher stipends, and private institutions often have more resources than public ones, especially in these days of state cutbacks for higher ed )

Prestige of the program (this is tricky - most often, highly respected programs are financially well-supported, and can therefore offer higher stipends, but, less often, highly respected programs can skimp on stipends because they know the students will come anyway.)

Bottom line: Urban school, 12-15,000 annually. Rural school, 9-12,000 annually.
