I am 23 yrs old and I work at a retail store. My boyfriend and I had to move in with my parents, because we can't afford rent on a place. I should have gone to college like everyone else when I graduated (I would have graduated by now) but traveling and concerts seemed like more fun, and I figured then that I'd go a year or two later, well it's been 5 years now and I want to obvioulsy do the right thing with my life, but I am stuck between two options. I either go to college, get a degree and be broke for 4 more years, living with my parents (That would suck) and dorm rooms are not an option. And then pay out my *** for 20 years on student loans, or I could take free training to become a certified nursing assistant.....who starts out a $12 an hr. with raises that could lead up to $20+ an hr. the more years you work. then I'd have more $ and could move out, and fend for myself, But I really am lost here, I need help. Would college and student loans be the better option? Or the nursing?

You need to go to college. Do not settle for a nurse aid job if you don't have to. You may be eligible for financial aid since you do not have to go by your parents income taxes and that would mean grants--you do not have to pay back grants. Plus you could also get loans to help what that did not cover and they are good-through the school. Don't put college off. You are still at a good age and you need to do it while school is a little fresh in your mind. It will be hard at first and you will have to work hard to get through it, but I am so glad that I did. It is a very proud moment to get that diploma. So go to college and take your time and choose what You really want to get a degree in. I changed my mind a few times and that is very normal. You do not have to know already, buy if you do, then you may be able to get out quicker, not sure. But anyway.,,, Good luck. And no, you do not have to live in a dorm. You can commute or live off campus.

There are a lot of training options out there besides the 2 you have listed. You do not need a 4 year degree for many high paying jobs. It depends on what you are interested in. Try taking a free online test (do a search for Holland's Codes or career choices, etc) and see what areas you are interested in and what kinds of jobs you might like. Do you like working outdoors, with your hands, working with people (helping them or in business), organizing things, or science/math/research?
There are many scholarships available also, or grants that you do not have to pay back, if you do decide to go to college. Check fastweb.com for some ideas. This is a free website, and you just have to filter through some ads to get the info you need, but it is worth it.
Whatever you do, don't feel like you are stuck there for life. Just leave as many doors open as you can while you pursue one thing. Ask those in jobs you might like what it is like for them. Try talking to a career counselor at a local community college.
Just a few ideas. I just finishing my masters (at 33) in school counseling, and just figured out what I want to do. BTW training is easier before you have kids. :)

Definitely choose the college option.
Think about it--even though your *** will be broke for several more years, your wage as a college grad will definitely be better than $12/hour. It may seem like a slow start, but 4 years go by pretty fast, and it's a experience that will help you for the rest of your life. The college tuition will return to you 10 fold.

There is an man or woman factor to all folks. (I am pleased you haven't reached yours. Interesting powerful dating you've gotten, for her to be so open. Does dialysis have a factor of now not being lucrative? I didn't realize.) My factor can also be reached whilst I am absolutely unaware my household is within the room, and lack of my senses, and physically position. (I gotta get this in writing quickly, a residing will, why do I keep in mind essential matters after paintings?) It's now not being a burden - however being already long past in spirit and brain - even supposing my frame is "running" - I'm now not there anymore. If any one pokes me with a pin - and I do not understand it or I cannot snicker or consume, or see my son and speak - those are indicators I am already long past. At a few factor there is not any clinical support anymore. No machines or surguries, or miracles. Being an older age in existence may be very extraordinary than at 20, 30. Debra M please cognizance at the details your existence has that means to such a lot of. You don't seem to be a burden to any one. Peace.

You nursing option looks good. You can after your free training even get a nursing degree (which I am not sure but is a 3 yr course) after which you can earn easily abt 60-70K per annum.

I would pray. Ask God to show you what you need to do. Tell him that you need some help deciding on the direction you should travel on life's path, and in time, you should know.
