I keep a plastic slinky, a gel-filled penguin, and a rubber ducky on my desk. I'm a college professor who often advises students (undergrad and grad), and I find that nervous or upset students often handle these things when they come in to speak with me.

I also keep a box of kleenex there too. It comes in handy.
