I am a high school student who was just forced to move across the country. I want to move back for my senior year. I think there's a way to get financial aid from the government for renting an apartment if you keep your grades up. Can anyone tell me how that works?

I am 20 years old and a college student. Next school year I will need as much money as possible for my student loan. According to the FAFSA, I am not eligible to be independent. Is the same true for loans? Am I better off claiming myself or letting my parents claim me?

Thanks!

I asked this question before but I think that I was largely misunderstood so I'll try this again.

I got a pell grant last year and got 2900 for the entire year. I had made 1704 for that year in income and that's how they came up with the figures of 2900. The 2900 was not enough to cover all of my tuition and books for last year and I had to receive help from my boyfriend.

Okay THIS YEAR, I made 6800 and it's showing my EFC to be 04616 which is much higher than it was for the last year. I went back and made corrections to the app so that the only money it shows me to have is that 6800 and now the EFC is 03515 which is still much higher than it was for the last year.

If I'm only making 6800 for a year then how can I be expected to pay anything toward school if I can't even pay a full months rent on time? Does this make sense? You can't live on 6800 so there's nothing left over for school.

I'm 23 and I graduated from college a year ago, but never tried to apply for any grants or scholarships while I was in school. I know that there are huge amounts of money left over every year in unpaid money, that could help lots of students to pay off their loans. I'm wondering if there's any way that I could apply for any of that money. Or is it only possible to do that before you start school or while you're in it? Thx

i got into the marshall school of business at usc so i was absolutely thrilled--until i found out that my tax forms and fafsa information threw my financial status over the "need help kids" number. i have been offered no work-study positions, so i will have to find my own outside job. thus, i am expected to pay more than $45,000 out of my own pocket. do you have any suggestions (besides taking on loans and applying for private scholarships)? thanks!
