I'm looking at $2000 ea month that I will need to come up with. for monthly expenses, such as rent, insurance, food, day care, utilities, student loan from when i went before. etc... ANy suggestions or ideas on what I can do to make this happen?

I want to go for Art Education. The local college offers the degree and courses but most of the courses I need are only offered during the day when I work.

Have you considered going back for your masters in Art Education? I do not think there is a way to come up with $2000 a month without student loans unless you are very lucky with finding enough scholarships. However, a Graduate assistant or research assistant position with the university might come close though. Most of the classes are probably offered at night. Pell grants do not exist for graduate school students or those persuing their second bachelors degree. I will list some resources to locate money to attend college.

First, the college's financial aid office and website has a list of private scholarships offered from outside organizations and companies. Sometimes a college major's website will list scholarships, too.

Second, the public library has a book listing scholarships with some not even listed on the web.

Finally, I recommend joining several free membership scholarship search websites. There are scholarships for a variety of things including ethnicity, clubs, hobbies, and even wearing duct tape to the high school prom. Most are updated on a regular basis. Most offer a customized search based on information entered onto a form on the website.

Good luck!

I am sure you know that you no longer qualify for grants, so you have loans to contend to. However, you will only have a limited borrowing eligibilty, compared to, if you were pursuing a master degree that has a higher borrowing eligibliy. I would recommend keeping the full-time job or getting a part-time job to assist with additional expenses like health insurance. At this point in your life, you can't just give up a job to pursue a 2nd BA. You could ask your boss for flex hours to take classes during working hours.

It's not a good idea to quit your job. I'd say research further other schools including doing online programs - don't discount those - they're recognized and just as well if not better than going physically to class. I can attest that they are just as hard too - you should also consider a masters program if you already have a BA - it holds more status and you don't need another 4 years you need to specialize in something. Try FSU.edu and phoenix university online they have lots of programs. Elaborate what you want to study and maybe I can help you? BTW I did my BS at night school while I had a stressful job as well I completed my MBA at night as well with very stressful job. This too gives you the opp to stay home with your child while also in school!
Good luck-

I wouldn't completely quit your job, you can probably not get enough financial aid to do that. Could you work just part time and go to school part time? I know it is not the most ideal situation but could you maybe go on public assistance while you are in school? I know they will help out with daycare & food at least if you qualify based on income. And its not like you would be on it forever. You can apply for grants and loans through FAFSA. I also agree with the last answerer about maybe checking out an online school, which you could do at night after work. Good luck and I hope you are able to reach your goal! I am in the same type of situation but not sure when I will be able to go back to school. Probably when my daughter is in school!

Since you get WIC do you have a caseworker? Those would be the people you need to ask about reduced cost daycare. But really..you want to stick a 2 mo old in daycare for 8 or 10 hours a day? Since you are so busy, maybe you should be looking into adoption.
