I have to write an appeal letter to get financial aid at college. I reason I withdrew from my classes was because I got pregnant, me and my ex-boyfriend was going through so much, I was the only person that could take care of my grandmother she is bad off sick, and I had lost my job and the new one I got causes conflict with the school hours. The bills had to be paid. My mind was unable to focus and I was missing classes like crazy. Now I am ready to get my education to better me and my son future. SO PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!

Yale sends pamplets to high school minority students from small towns, but are they really affordable to us without scholarship. I have always maintained a 4.0 in a Honors Course. I would like to know if attending a school of this caliber is possible for a small town girl.

I know i must qualify for some kind of financial aid for college. I talked to everyone possible to see how i fill out the financial part on the fafsa, they just keep telling me the same thing. I don't know what to do. I really want to go to college there is just noone that is really answering the questions i need to know. There has got to be a loop hole around it somewhere and i have got to find it. My problem is my grandparents have been my legal guardians since i was 5 and my parents havent given them a dime since and they cant afford to pay for college for me because they are pretty broke themselves, the fafsa says i cant use my guardians financial information the college told me the same thing. So if i havent seen or talked to my parents in years how am i supposed to answer these kind of questions on the fafsa and how do i get any financial assitance from the government to go to college and be successful. If anyone knows how to get around this please help me. thank you.

Like if a certain field is needed more the government will offer more money if you choose that field, maybe teaching is one.

Each of my parents make about $50,000 a year, but there are two other kids in the family. Could I still get need-based financial aid? What about for more expensive colleges, like Duke University? Thanks!

Hi, I am a senior in high school and i filled out the FAFSA before March 1, 2007 so that i could recieve financial aid for the college i am attending in the fall. I do not live with my parents, and they have never cared for me or supported me financially in any way. We do not even speak. Therefore, I was told that my FAFSA form could not be processed due to the factors that I have no parents to sign the form with the information that I did not know if they would file taxes, and do not know their incomes. With this in hand, I have no money, and do not currently have the money to pay for college or summer programs to help my career without help, and do not want a bunch of student loans. There must be something I can do because I have been neglected and abandoned by my parents. I just dont know what that is yet.

My wife and I want to start a college savings plan for our 1 1/2 year old daughters. I understand each state has its own 529 plan. In Illinois I am looking at the BrightStart plan. We would have approximately $100 a month automatically taken from the checking account and sent downstate to the BrightStart account where it is invested in various funds for us. My question- it was suggested to me by someone to check into Utah's plan too, it is rated as one of the best in the country. Anybody know the difference? Any suggestions from parents putting money away for their kids' college future? Any advice would be helpful.

I currently have a scholarship that pays for my classes, but not books or lab fees. I also received the pell grant to pay for my books and lab fees. I would like to be able to go to school full time, but i cant because i have to work fulltime to pay rent, car, and insurance. I would like to take out a student loan to help with these expenses so i could just work part time. Will my scholarship/grant effect how much money I will get for a loan? I am not sure where to go for this either.. I need one pretty quick.. don't have much credit.. where do i go?

UIC gave no aid besides loans..DePaul gave a 3.5k grant, 3k work study, and loans.

After visiting both i thought DePaul seemed like a better fit but is it worth the debt?
