I was living in a fantasy land when I thought those stupid little booklets that Student Loan Finance Corporation sent out for a payment plan, was all I had to pay. I never realized how many bloody years it actually took, until I called those creatures today. So, I'm wondering what is the average amount of time it takes for people to pay back their student loans? and why can you pay back a car loan for 20 grand in five years, but a college loans for the same amount takes 18 or something equally as insane? Thank you.

Last summer I applied for financial aid and was granted a certain amount for the fall/winter 2006 semesters.
Due to some difficulties, I was unable to attend during that time period. I was wondering, if I decide to go, can I use the money I was granted instead of or in addition to the coming bill?

I just finished my first year of college and the first semester I passes all but one class. The second I had to withdraw from 3. When I looked on my college's website it said that if you fail from classes so that you only finished 67% then you get put on financial aid warning. Does that mean that I will still get finiacial aid but I need to make sure that I do well in all my classes? Does anyone know?

Last fall i enrolled to to 12 hours and i was 6 months pregnant. I was doing fine in the beginning but around a month and half into the semester having contractions, back pain, and tired all the time. Due to my circumstances i had to miss school and because i had financial aid they wouldnt allow me to drop any classes. So to make a long story a short one i had my baby the week of the finals with an emergency c-section( 2 weeks before my due date) and ended up making less than a 2.0 for the semester now my baby will be 8 months and i want to go to school again buy im being denied financial aid, has anyone ever appealed the decision? Should i go back to my Doctor whom i havent seen in 8 months and ask him for the note that i should have requested a long time ago? Any first hand sugestions are greatly appreciated.

I have just recieved my financial aid award letter. I still havent started school just yet. I will be a dependent, full-time student. I live with my mother and brother, or so I did at the time of applying for the aid. Now my question is my mother now has a boyfriend (just boyfriend, not married) and he now lives with us.My mothers boyfriend and my brother are going to buy a house together. Seeing as how we now will own a property and my moms boyfriend makes more money then her, will this affect my financial aid? Or will it not matter becuase neither my moms boyfriend or my brother's income have anything to do with me. . Im sorry if this doesn't make sense..lol

I am 28, a single mother of 2 and I am looking to finally start attending college this year. I know that I qualify for pell grants and such to pay for tuition but does anyone know if you can recieve student loans on top of that to help with living exspenses while attending classes. I have a job I just cant work full time anymore and attend classes and still be the kind of mother my kids deserve to have. I can still work part time I just need help paying the bills while I'm in school. Please if anyone has any info on this let me know.
