I'm tired of people answering financial aid questions with such cold answers. I'm talking about those people that have nothing else to say but "get a job".

The problem that I have with this is that you are not expected to work full time through school. The reason you are in school is to concentrate on your education, not how hard to work in order to pay for it. This is why there is financial, and if anything else student loans. But I"m so tired of people telling people "suck it up and find a job," it's cruel, cold, and ignorant! So next time you give advice to college students who are trying to find ways to pay for college, don't tell them to work through school. No one cares if you didn't know how to apply for financial aid and ended up having to work 40 hours a week while going to school. It's not expected of any stupid, so stop being so damn ignorant!

Anyone else agree?

I am going to have to give a little bit of history here. My mom and i ran a daycare togeather. Believe it or not we both wanted to become chiros. So we gave up the daycare and went to college togeather. Of course i got student loans. then bam, my mom had to have a tumor removed from her neck. She was unable to move her arm. So she was unable to become a chiro. So i quit school to be there for her an Now we had no money to speak of. Only now are we getting money. we reopened the daycare. The student loan people are now giving me threats (i was unable to pay them before) They want 900 now and then make payments. I dont have 900 now and offerd to pay 200 now and then 250 amnth till its paid off.(i owe 7 grand). they now tell me that i cant get my plates renewed till the money is paid. welll how can i drive to work with expired plates. therefor they would not get paid.i rent and my car is paid for? what can they do to me? Its not like dont want to pay, but they wont take my offfer

I am late filing mine and I just found out classes start next week. I did mine last week and a lot of people have said 1-2 wks to process. My school said they "dl fafsa info from the database" every thursday. So this thursday it probably won't be processed right? Next week maybe?

*I figure school starts on monday and tuition is due by that friday. If it isn't processed by then I will have my prof's write an overload add/drop slip. Will it work?

I just found out that I'm being awarded financial aid for this fall semester at a community college which will cover all my tuition and books and most of my living expenses. However, when I transfer in January to a University, my financial aid package doesn't change, even though the cost of tuition has almost doubled. It will award me 5,975 for a semester, but the cost of attendance (tuition, books, room and board) at the University is at a minimum 6,775. Then, on top of that, that leaves me no residual funds for summer and I still have to have a place to live for the summer as well, since I'm moving into a dorm. I'm doing this all on my own. I have no family or friends here that I can stay with over the summer. I HAVE to be able to stay on campus, but the financial aid money isn't enough. What do I do?

I went to college after the military. I had a hard time adjusting after school. I worked in the field I studied in only 2 years. Now have had odd jobs for last 7 years. I have not had to pay my loan because I'm not making any money. But the interest and everything is making the loan balloon. Any suggestions.
Just to keep clear. I am honorably discharged and I graduated with 3.998 gpa.. I went into the military at 17 and didn't know if I wanted a career of it. Since I didn't pay into the education program I get nothing out.

I have an in-law who said she did not qualify for a pell grant. Her parents claim her on their taxes and she has a job, but it only pays minimum wage. I honestly don't think her parents make very much money. Does anyone know what the cut off is? Is there a place to get some good information. It is just a shame because she is getting knocked out of grants and her parents don't help her at all with college. I would like to help her out if I can. Thanks

I'm a 26 year old student, and I've applied to transfer to a University in January. I'm at a community college now, and my financial aid, grants and loans covers all my tuition, and also my living expenses (I found a cheap apartment off campus), if I move into on campus University owned apartments, will the financial aid package include the cost of on campus housing in my total expenses? I don't have a lot of money and rely on my financial aid to cover 100% like it has since I've been at the community college. Is this possible, or am I being too hopeful? I guess what I'm trying to say is, will financial aid cover 100% at a University like it has for me at a community college?

Hello. I would like to go back to college, but I owe my previous college a large sum of money, and they won't release my transcripts until I pay that money off. I don't have a paying job I am a full time mom. I looked into getting another loan, but no one will even help me out unless I am enrolled into school. But how can I enroll in school with no transcripts?
