The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Despite an individualized education plan and supposed accountability, public schools in Georgia did not, could not and would not teach my daughter to read. Only when I put her in private programs did she begin reading.

I have worked for 12 years to hold the public schools accountable to help all children learn, but the system is broken.

In a recent case I’ve been working on, a Fulton County public school praised the progress of a 10-year-old with high normal intelligence who could only read 100 words in isolation. Yet, this 10-year-old passed the state-mandated tests last year because teachers read the questions to him. The sad truth is this child could be taught to read.

I have helped parents in so many counties, and I see similar situations every day. I’ve worked with parents who moved to Georgia and were appalled at the ineffectiveness of special education here. Our state is known

I was looking at some old census records from Woburn, Massachusetts from the 1890's and I noticed that a few men's job titles were listed as "japineer."
I looked around but can't find anything about it.
Could it have anything to do with harness making?

I'm 18 years old and I made some bad decisions a while back and now I'm trying to fix things. I am doing correspondence and I have grade 10 completed so far.

I really want to just get rid of high school and get a GED. Having to complete high school is really holding my life back. I want to do a lot of things. I want to get fun hobbies, take different classes, save up money, ect.

I don't really like school, so I don't see myself going to university. I can see myself doing a job in the military(which I will almost certainly join, then decide what I want to do in life), police, or trades. I live in Alberta, Canada - a province with a strong economy and getting a job is easy. If I did decide to go into the trades it would be no problem finding a job.

I guess the problem would be getting into school for said job. What negatives are there in getting a GED, based on what I plan to do? Will I be able to get into college if I decide to, and do employers not hire GEDs as much

I have to film a 5-10 minute documentary, with very little time to film it. I need ideas!!! Like I said, I don't have much time, so it needs to be a subject that doesn't require a long length of time to film, and I don't live in a big city, so no subjects dealing with city life...

I would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction. I need a school in North Carolina with some kind of Health Science, Kinesiology, or Health Education Bachelor's degree program. I would prefer something close to Raleigh...I've looked at NC State, and they don't really have anything up that alley from what I see. If anyone could help me out that would be great.

Correct me if i am wrong but, from what have researched UCR is actually a pretty good school. They are ranked highly for sciences. And they do have a biomed program where med students start medschool at UCR and finish at UCLA. personally i am looking at UCR for my undergraduate work and preperation for med school.

I was wondering if anyone had any input of UCR
UCLA is LA not exactly the safest city how is it that everyone over looks that for school?
USC is in the ghetto how is it that no one uses that fact to bring down to school, like they do for UCR?

I am applying to law school in a couple years. I have a 3.8 and do lots of volunteer work. I have not taken the LSAT yet, but will a 3.8 give me a good chance of getting into a top school such as Harvard or Yale? Or do those schools usually need closer to a 4.0? Are law schools interested in diversity? How can I show diversity on my application? I was thinking of saying that I am the first person in my family to attend college since my mom just has a high school diploma and my dad has a 9th grade education. Also, I have heard that sometimes medical illnesses can show diversity. I have a disease that causes intense chronic pain. After 10 years of pain, I was finally diagnosed last year. The problem is that doctors frequently tell young girls that their symptoms are all in their heads. If I started a support group for young women with my disease, and encouraged them to ge their doctors to believe them, could that be diversity? Is diversity only being black or hispanic?

I'm looking to get into Law School after I'm done with my undergrad. Right now I'm taking a class which I am completely lost in and will most likely fail or get a C at best. Would it be worse to get the horrible grade or to withdraw from the class with a WF getting on my transcript?
