Correct me if i am wrong but, from what have researched UCR is actually a pretty good school. They are ranked highly for sciences. And they do have a biomed program where med students start medschool at UCR and finish at UCLA. personally i am looking at UCR for my undergraduate work and preperation for med school.

I was wondering if anyone had any input of UCR
UCLA is LA not exactly the safest city how is it that everyone over looks that for school?
USC is in the ghetto how is it that no one uses that fact to bring down to school, like they do for UCR?

If you do the UCR Biomed program, you will spend your med school years at UCLA. But on the bright side, it's a very affluent part of town, so I wouldn't worry too much about safety. Just exercise common sense and good judgment.

UCR takes 200 into that program. Only a small handful actually complete it. My best friend went in, but dropped out of the program after a year (she switched majors and graduated with a degree in environmental science).

So why when comparing USC to UCR do people continually dump on UCR and not on USC? That's because USC is ranked WAAAAAAY above UCR. UCR is the lowest-ranked UC (we don't count Merced 'cause it's too new). USC, though not in the UC system, still has a strong reputation, notable medical school and hey, they even have a good football team. btw, they even have a 7-year med program: 3 years USC undergrad, 4 years USC med. If you can get it, it'll cost you $$$.

But who cares what I think or what US News thinks! If UCR has what you need, then by all means go for it.
