I want to buy some books for my 4 year old niece. Does anyone have any suggestions for some fun and/or educational books for a girl that age? Thanks in advance.

I am going to be taking a math course in college, and it's been 15 years since I've taken mathematics. Actually, more like 18 because my parents put me in Vo-Tech in my last 2 years of high school, so my last math class, Honors Geometry, was in 10th grade.

I am, obviously going to be taking a remedial math course to help me "re-learn" the basics, because when I was taking college courses 4 years ago, I chose College Algebra, I was getting the correct answers, but could NOT explain how I was, so I knew I needed to drop the course and "go back" to a lesser course so I could re-learn what the processes are and how I was getting the answers (and no, I didn't have a cheat guide).

So, my choices are "Mathematics: Basic Math" or "Beginning Algebra"

I know my fractions and decimals and basic math...so should I go ahead and enter Basic Algebra and work my way back up that way? Or would it be wise to go with basic math, THEN beginning algebra and so forth?

Thanks!

Is that horrible? I was almost in the top 25% but at the last minute I slipped and was pissed. I was literally a few people away. Do colleges look badly on that that I am almost in the 1st quartile but still graduate in 2nd quartile? My GPA is an A, and my ACT is a 24.

When people are telling a story about themselves, there's this tendency to switch to "you" instead of "I," especially when talking about feelings. As in Q: What went through your mind when you pulled the child from the inferno? A: Well, I never thought about it. You just know that you have to help.
Or Q: Welcome to the Dr. Phil show. Why are you here? A: Well, my husband cheated on me. You just get so angry, and you want to hurt him all the time.

See, I know it looks funny written, but I promise that it is spoken this way all the time. It drives me up the wall, because it seems that no one else notices. Like I'm hearing voices or something.

I thought of something like dissociative language, but is there a word that is specific, or more accurate? Has anyone else noticed this?

I have a horrible GPA, 2.3, after goofing off at the beginning of my undergrad. I have the rest of the fall semester and spring semester to finish 3 classes, then graduate. If I get As in all 3 classes, how much can my GPA raise? Should I take more classes before I graduate even though they aren't needed for my major?

I had to write a poem for english. I chose to do it on weed and getting high. Tell me what you think of it? What should i change?

Dazed and Down to Earth

It fills my mouth and explodes.
Triggers a tornado, rain follows;
It’s not something I’ll get used to.
The godly flavor slithers,
Surrounds me with a delightful numbness.
The yellow comes and goes,
Leaves me feeling mellow,
As heat crawls down my throat.

Every blink is a comma,
Every move is amnesia.
My senses let go. So unreliable.
I spot your smirk between syndromes.
Hold your gaze for a century.
And two seconds from eternity,
My voice disrupts me.

We float on like it means nothing.
Go on like it proves something.
It’s erratic. I ******* love it.

Then you land somewhere nice
But the clouds keep me hostage.
So I fly solo for a year or so.
Keep myself busy,
Rewriting history with a new philosophy,
While my mind is on a leave of absence

I crash into reality,
Far from this mentality
The mellow goes, feelings show,
The flavor fades, I lose the haze.
Loathing the way life does this
I ignite the feeling,
Breathe, slip and drown in bliss.
