He has been evaluated and qualifies for PPCD, but not OT. He is now in Head Start, and they're going to "screen" him to see if a full-eval is warranted. I'm afraid he won't qualify again b/c he can sit, color, etc. However, he is extremely lacking in focus, doesn't have the ability to sit for more than a minute, and he has problems with fine motor skills. For example, he's potty trained, but cannot pull his own pants down/up.

What sorts of things should I emphasize to the OT so that I can improve my son's chances of qualifying for OT? Any ideas??

He has seen lots of doctors/neurologists. We have no diagnosis--maybe speech apraxia and possibly ADD.

Thanks for your help!

My son is in 3rd grade at a new school, but in the same county as last year. My son has had all A's since 1st grade( won several awards) His new teacher takes points off of test and other work because of his handwriting. Is this fair when handwriting is not taught in the county? I admit his handwriting needs work, but it is very clear to read...sometimes just a little messy on the line.

I've never been good in math. I've always had to struggle with anything above basic. I think I got it from my mother who had the same problem. This is why I gave up my dream of getting into med-school. I have 2 questions:

1. Is there ANY way a person who is not naturally good in math to improove to a point you can choose to study with a major engineering or medecine?

2. What can I as a "right-brained" person or a 'creative' person choose as major?
I want a stable and traditional job with a fairly decent salary in the future.

Thanks for reading.

My Grand daughter is convinced that she wants to go to uni., but I never went, and earned good money cleaning large manors - I even got a job as a carer for young and old. In my day it was extremely rare that a young lady would go on to third level and we are far more intelligent, diligent and applied to whatever we are doing - albeit a crossword puzzle! I was wondering what is best for her; I just feel she needn't, and I don't want World War III to occur between my children and her. Please give advice to let me view the situation with a good perspective!

This is really for those who left school many years ago, but I suppose anyone can play!

I remember my music teacher Mr Lucas from primary school. Taught me to play harmonica and set me on the musical path. He also chose the music for assembly and I remember singing songs by Rod Stewart and Eric Clapton rather than hymns!

This year our principal has decided all seniors will be given full schedule of 8 classes. So even if you need only five more classes for an advanced diploma, like me you get extras you don't need but can't drop. I have 3 useless classes, and I'm also enrolled in duel-enrollment, which means I attend a college composition course on Mondays from 4 to 6:40. What is your opinion on seniors being able to leave early versus being in school all day?
