I am a student at Saddleback College in California and I want to be a pharmacist. I am also a mom.

Any suggestions on how I should go about pursuing that career? I don't know if I should get a Bachelor's or go straight to a pharmacy shcool. I have/am completed/completing 38 units. I don't know where else to go but USC and it will be tough and too far to go there.

Help!

I recommend that you talk to the admission counselor at USC and see what you HAVE TO do in order to get into their school of pharmacy.

Since you are an older adult, I recommend that you just finish your requirements, however, your grades MUST be outstanding, at least 3.80 and up.

In California, in general, to be competitive you will need a bachelors. California is the most competitive state.
There are a number of schools in California:

California

Loma Linda University
School of Pharmacy

Touro University
College of Pharmacy

University of California - San Diego
School of Pharmacy

University of California- San Francisco

I have a B.A. in Business and five years out of school, I decided to go for a pharmD too. As for you not having a college degree and depending on your grades/ACT score in high school, I would say just go straight into pharmacy school. It may take a couple times of applying b/c it's so competitive to get in. You won't have to worry about taking the PCAT or transferring in as a 3rd year student since you don't have a degree yet. I apologize, but I can't give you any advice on pharamcy schools in California.

If you can get accepted, you should go straight into Pharmacy School for your Pharm D degree.
