My friend Russell is about as laid back as you can get. He doesn't own a watch or a cell phone. He even unplugged the clock in his car. Recently, he visited this brand-new, mega-bookstore near his house. He drifted over to the periodicals area where he perused his favorite golf publication, 'Putz' magazine. And then, as you might expect, he found the yoga and meditation books & after considerable browsing he finally made a purchase and left. As soon as he got his car on the highway he remembered that his sister had invited him over for dinner. Now, Russell's sister is one uptight pain-in-the-butt clock watcher, and if he showed up late for dinner, she'd kill him. He began to sweat. 'What if I spent too much time in the bookstore?' he worried. In a panic, poor Russell reached for the book that he had just bought, 'Zen and the Art of the Leveraged Buyout.' Within moments, his fear had abated. He wouldn't be late after all. What was in that book that set his mind at ease?

I'm wondering how many people who think that A levels are getting easier took them when they were apparently 'hard' and worthwhile AND now so they can really compare?

I achieved AAA at A level and should have been over the moon but every single newspaper claimed that the grades meant nothing because the exams were so easy. I achieved the highest I could physically get and yet apparently even that isn't an achievement anymore. Why not?

my project is about Roman Theatre and I'm doing a powerpoint presentation and right now I have 6 slides (including stuff about actors in general, influences from other cultures, comedies, tragedies, Roman theatres in general, and how people would identify characters in a show). This stuff won't last me for not even 2 minutes. I need ideas to make this project longer. Just give me sub-topic ideas or something like that. Please, I seriously need help or I might fail this project and start crying...thanx in advanced

I recently have had a bad couple of years, and have messed up in school. I was wondering if applying to a new university or college, was it necessary to inform them of my past experiences.

I am an EFL teacher with a degree and celta recognition, but in London they refuse to offer me a job since I am not a native speaker, I do not have a British accent, I admit, it's quite American, but do you think it is fair to turn qualified people down just because they are non-natives? What do you think???

What should I get for my teacher at the end of the year?

I'm going into 9th grade, so this is the last time I'll see her.

I have a really close connection with her, I've had a lot of problems this year and she's been there for me.

I don't know what to do, and I know I want to get her something.

=/ Any suggestions? Nothing cheesy, like, "Great teacher" things.

Something... I don't know. =/ That's why I asked. o.o

Thanks a lot in advance.

I know many people are really disappointed with public education these days, depending on their location. We would certainly love to see it improve drastically. What is the root of the problem? How could it be realistically transformed to better meet needs and expectations for the future of our nation?

I appreciate everyones opinions, INSULTS of my intelligence, corrections, and facts stated in my previous "homeschool" questions, but I just wanted to know what aspects about public schools do u like, if any?

I wasn't trying to knock homeschooling, I just asked questions and had opiniated statements to get some honest, blunt, yet defensive feedback. Just trying to understand the reasons why people homeschool.

I respect the whole homeschooling thing. I have the patience to deal with my child, but its not for me. I just feel that EVERY CHILD should experience a traditional classroom @ LEAST ONE YEAR in there life.
