Class of....e.g 2000?

Class of....e.g 2000?

In America and Canada they have this thing where they say a class is e.g 'Class of 2000'. I was wondering if this means that the class started there in 2000 or if that was the year they left?

That is the graduation year. Class of '69 here!

its the year of the day they graduate so if ur a senior in the school year of 2006-2007, u would be the class of '07!!
